The clutch section relates a 52.0–53.6 mm clutch-pack length to three spring-retainer heights, gives a 0.45–0.75 mm effective spring-plate stroke target, and shows how that stroke is measured and tracked as the friction plates wear. The manual flags several race-build traps. Forcing the manual cam-chain tensioner can increase friction and damage the chain guide. Cam-timing changes or head and gasket modifications require a fresh valve-to-piston clearance check, because insufficient clearance can produce direct contact. The steering damper must not become the steering stop, and the radiator must be checked at full fork compression so the tire, fork, or exhaust manifold cannot strike it.
Kawasaki specifies these modifications for sanctioned closed-course competition, not public-road use. Cylinder-head machining, rotating-assembly clearances, clutch setup, transmission shimming, and final electrical configuration should be verified by an experienced racing technician before the motorcycle returns to the track.
