Several repair cautions are unusually specific. The axle chapters warn that excessive pinion preload cannot be corrected by backing off the nut; the collapsible spacer must be replaced. Transmission installation requires a torque-converter seating check, and the manual warns that converter-to-driveplate bolts of the wrong length can damage the internal clutch surface. Diesel fuel-system cleanliness is equally critical: contamination can rapidly wear injectors or plug nozzle holes, while improvised injector removal can damage the injector.

Support the truck at the specified hoist points and isolate high-pressure diesel fuel, airbag, and refrigerant systems before related repair work.
