Engine Rebuilds and Cooling Components

Transmission Construction and Rear-Drive Service

Transmission sections address input and bevel-pinion shafts, countershafts, reverse idlers, bearing preload, and gear mesh. Early and late 190/190XT construction is separated at tractor serial number 9000; the manual also notes that field changes can place later transmission parts in earlier tractors.

For the Model 7000, tractor-splitting procedures distinguish whether the cab remains with the front or rear section. Power Shift and PTO work references ACTP 3025, 3027, 3028, 3030, 3031, and 3032.

The work involves heavy tractor sections, rotating assemblies, press operations, and pressurized hydraulic and fuel systems. Secure machine support and isolation of pressure, fuel, and electrical supplies are required before disassembly.

A Preview of Valve and Injector Test Specifications

Diesel valve-clearance specifications distinguish cold and hot checks: inlet and exhaust clearance is 0.018 in. cold and 0.015 in. hot, with the engine stopped for checking.

Injector opening-pressure data specify 2750 psi for the 190 with the 2800 diesel engine and 3475 psi for the 200 and 7000 with the 2900 diesel engine. These values accompany separate spray-pattern, seat-leakage, and leak-back test descriptions.
