AD4.203 fuel-injection content provides identification, timing and test specifications rather than a pump or injector overhaul chapter.

Front Axle and Steering Variants

Perkins Gasoline and Diesel Engine Repair

AG4.212 / AG4.236: The 212.3 and 235.9 cu. in. engine section extends through cylinder-head, piston, connecting-rod and liner work to crankshaft bearings, front and rear seals, timing gears, camshaft, tappets and flywheel service.

The Engine Balancer Assembly views and timing information support balancer overhaul and installation. The manual warns that damage to the drive-end bushings from the shaft keys can cause balancer seizure and severe engine damage.

Special tooling includes the MFN-236 valve-guide reamer kit, MFN-325 liner puller plate, and MFN-747B / MFN-747C front-seal tooling, with sectional tool views. Lubrication and oil-pump procedures accompany carburetor, governor/distributor-drive, water-pump and ignition service.

AD4.203: This direct-injection diesel section covers the 203.5 cu. in., 18.5:1 engine with a CAV DPA distributor-type injection pump. Overhaul material continues beyond valve-guide service through liners, pistons, timing gears, camshaft, crankshaft, bearings, seals and flywheel work.

The Side Sectional View of AD4.203 Engine — Early Model Shown supports component identification. Serial-specific liner, crankshaft and seal information helps match replacement parts to the engine build; the identification pages also explain the serial-number format change around May 31, 1966.

Chrome-plated and cast-iron liner arrangements require different ring selections. The general servicing instructions warn that honing chrome-lined sleeves can damage the lining beyond repair.

Clutches, Transmissions and PTO

Dual-clutch coverage includes release-finger and secondary-pressure-plate adjustments. Split-torque clutch procedures apply to the independent-PTO arrangement and distinguish its operation from the dual-clutch system.

The Multi-Power section separates Standard low-clearance and Row Crop high-clearance configurations, including gasoline/diesel differences where applicable. A Preview of Engine Clearance, Oil and Injector Data

For G-176 / GB-176 crankshaft inspection, the specifications list 0.004–0.008 in. end play, controlled by the center main bearing.

AG4.212 / AG4.236 lubrication data specifies 30–60 psi oil pressure at maximum engine speed and normal operating temperature. Oil-pan capacity at the high-level mark is 15.6 U.S. pints, excluding the filter.

AD4.203 injector data distinguishes 2500 psi opening pressure for used injectors with more than 25 operating hours from 2720 psi for new injectors or used injectors fitted with new springs.
