Honda Manual Features & Content Preview
- Vehicle coverage: Applies to 2007 Honda CR-V models for the USA and Canada: RE3 2WD or RE4 Real-Time 4WD, the K24Z1 2.4 L DOHC i-VTEC sequential multiport fuel-injected engine, and either the MZJA 5-speed automatic (2WD) or MZHA 5-speed automatic (4WD).
- Engine repair procedures: Covers engine removal and installation, compression inspection, VTEC rocker-arm and VTC actuator testing, valve-clearance adjustment, cam-chain service, cylinder-head disassembly and reconditioning, crankshaft/piston/bearing work, bore honing, oil-pump overhaul, and cooling-system diagnosis.
- Transmission and 4WD driveline: Provides road, stall-speed, and hydraulic pressure testing; solenoid and sensor diagnosis; transmission removal; valve-body, shaft, gear, clutch, differential, and transfer overhaul; Dual Pump rear-differential testing; and driveshaft/propeller-shaft service.
- Steering, suspension, and brakes: Details power-steering pump and gearbox testing/overhaul, wheel alignment, hubs and bearings, ball joints, control arms, dampers and springs, brake bleeding and caliper repair, plus TPMS and VSA fault isolation and sensor service.
- Electrical, HVAC, and control systems: Combines HDS-based fault tracing with DTC, input-test, and self-diagnostic procedures for starting, ignition, charging, PGM-FI, electronic throttle, A/T, F-CAN/B-CAN, MICU, immobilizer, climate control, audio/navigation, and SRS. System-level circuit diagrams and connector views support diagnosis.
- Document identity: Honda OEM Service Manual, Publication Form No. 61SWA00, First Edition 10/2006, supplied as a 13-file PDF set totaling 2,317 pages. The OEM title page states 2,320 pages for the original edition.
This is a workshop-level factory manual for the 2007 North American CR-V, not a condensed maintenance guide. Honda’s indexes tie disassembly sequence to thread sizes, torque callouts, inspection points, special tools, and the related repair procedures.
2007 RE3/RE4 Coverage and VIN Identification
The identification section decodes LX, EX, and EX-L grade information along with chassis, VIN, production-plant, and paint-color data. It separates the USA 000001- VIN sequence from the Canadian 800001- sequence and identifies the East Liberty and Saitama production codes. This helps match drivetrain, electrical, body, audio, and navigation information to the vehicle before repair work begins.
Maintenance Minder coverage is specific to the 2007 system. It explains display behavior, main and sub-item codes, reset procedures, overdue indications, and the PCM-calculated engine-oil and automatic-transmission-fluid life used to trigger service messages.
Engine, Transaxle, and System Diagnostics
Engine repair reaches the cylinder head and block, with camshaft and rocker inspection, valve-guide and seat service, crankshaft and piston teardown, bearing selection, cylinder inspection, and lubrication-system testing. Engine-electrical coverage includes starter circuit diagnosis and overhaul, ignition timing and coil/spark-plug inspection, charging-system tests, alternator overhaul, and cruise-control input testing.
Transmission coverage reaches the valve bodies, ATF pump, internal shafts, first-through-fifth clutch assemblies, A/T differential, transfer unit, and shift/interlock mechanisms. The 4WD sections add Dual Pump rear-differential function testing and repair plus rear driveshaft and propeller-shaft service. HVAC adds refrigerant recovery and charging, leak testing, evaporator/heater-unit service, actuator tests, and climate-control DTC diagnosis.
Diagnostic sections combine DTC indexes with symptom charts, connector and terminal views, control-unit input tests, sensor/actuator checks, and system descriptions. Setup work includes PCM updating and idle learn, readiness-code procedures, TPMS sensor-ID memorization, immobilizer key registration, power-window and moonroof resets, gauge-module data transfer, and ODS initialization/calibration. Factory-tool callouts include the CR-V engine hanger adapter VSB02C000032, fuel-pressure gauge attachment set 07AAJ-S6MA150, and SRS inflator simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A.
Circuit Diagrams, Factory Data, and Scope Limits
Representative references include the Fan Controls Circuit Diagram, A/T Interlock System Circuit Diagram, TPMS Circuit Diagram, HVAC Circuit Diagram, Power Windows Circuit Diagram, and SRS Circuit Diagram. Factory data is organized by assembly and includes torque specifications, approved-fluid and capacity data, pressure-test specifications, gear ratios, alignment settings, inspection and wear limits, clearances, and electrical test values.
This set is the Service Manual. Honda published the 61SWA00EL Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for circuit-by-circuit wiring diagnosis and the 62SWA30 Body Repair Manual for replacement of damaged body parts as separate books. The service manual still covers system-level electrical diagnosis, doors and glass, moonroof service, dashboard and seat work, bumper and tailgate adjustment, water-leak checks, subframe work, and a frame repair chart.
Disconnecting the steering joint before removing the steering wheel can damage the cable reel. In the transaxle, pump/housing misalignment can seize the ATF pump, while a main seal installed too deep can block the fluid return passage. SRS diagnosis requires dedicated precautions and test tools; general electrical test equipment is not to be used on SRS circuits. Fuel-pressure, refrigerant, lifting, and rotating-component work should follow the manual’s warnings and normal workshop safety practices.
