Yamaha Banshee 350 (YFZ350) 1987–2006 ATV Service Manual Set (P/N LIT-11616-YF-36)

The YFZ350T service manual provides the main overhaul and repair procedures. The A, B, J/K, and P supplements document subsequent changes and refer mechanics back to the base manual and earlier updates where needed.

The supplements are not stand-alone engine overhaul manuals. The referenced YFZ350T service material is included in both PDF compilations, allowing the updated procedures to be read alongside the earlier instructions.

Engine and Carburetor Repair

The YFZ350T base manual takes engine work beyond routine maintenance. Its exploded views and step-by-step procedures cover the cylinder head, cylinders and pistons, reed valve assembly, clutch and primary drive gear, kick axle, shift mechanism, stator, crankcase, transmission, shifter, and crankshaft.

Factory tool references include the YM-91042 universal clutch holder, YM-01189 flywheel magneto puller, and YM-01312 fuel-level gauge. The manual also identifies the YU-08036 inductive tachometer, YM-33277 timing light, and YU-24460-01 cooling-system tester for related inspection and adjustment work.

The carburetor section includes a sectional view of the metering system, disassembly and assembly procedures, float adjustment, fuel-level measurement, and jet-setting information. The YFZ350T base carburetor specification lists a #210 standard main jet, while later supplements provide their own calibration data. Checking the applicable variant table is important before changing carburetor settings.

Brakes, Steering and Suspension

The chassis chapters cover brake-disc inspection, brake-pad replacement, caliper and master-cylinder work, and hydraulic brake bleeding. Steering-system procedures extend to the steering knuckles, tie-rod ends, front arms, wheel assemblies, rear swingarm, and shock absorbers.

The YFZ350A supplement introduces revised front-brake procedures and a multi-stage rear-axle ring-nut adjustment using the YM-37132 rear axle nut wrench. The specified tightening stages and final position matter when completing the rear-axle installation.

The YFZ350B supplement provides revised front-arm and shock specifications, including installation details. YFZ350P adds rear-shock spring-preload, rebound, and compression adjustments, together with revised front-brake and rear-brake-light-switch checks.

Electrical Diagnosis and Wiring

The YFZ350T electrical section covers ignition and lighting troubleshooting, including switch, ignition-coil, pickup-coil, source-coil, and wiring checks. Its Throttle Override System (T.O.R.S.) information supports fault isolation involving the throttle and carburetor switches.

The YFZ350J/K supplement adds the parking-brake engine-revolution limiter. With the parking brake applied, the system is designed to cause misfire near 2,300 r/min. Yamaha provides a dedicated troubleshooting path for faults in the limiter and parking-switch circuit.

YFZ350P adds signal-system diagnosis, switch continuity testing, and revised cable-routing information. Named references include the YFZ350T Circuit Diagram, YFZ350J/K Wiring Diagram, YFZ350P Wiring Diagram, the engine-revolution-limiter circuit diagram, the carburetor sectional view, and system-specific cable-routing illustrations.

These circuit references help distinguish ignition, lighting, switch, and limiter faults before individual electrical components are selected for testing or replacement.

Service Cautions

The rear shock contains high-pressure nitrogen and must not be opened or exposed to excessive heat. The YFZ350P instructions also warn that forcing rebound or compression adjusters beyond their limits can damage the mechanisms.

Other component-specific cautions address bearing damage from spinning bearings dry with compressed air and damage to painted or plastic surfaces from brake fluid. Follow the safety instructions in the applicable service section before carrying out repair or adjustment work.

Selected Cooling, Brake and Fluid Specifications

For YFZ350P, the cooling specifications give a radiator-cap opening pressure of 95–125 kPa (13.8–18.1 psi). The rear-brake table specifies a 220.0 × 3.6 mm disc and a 1.0 mm brake-pad wear limit.

The YFZ350T transmission-oil specifications distinguish 1.5 L for a periodic oil change from 1.7 L total capacity. The base manual also lists premix ratios of 24:1 for YAMALUBE “R” and 20:1 for Castrol R30, A545, or A747.
