Machine Configuration and Scope
The manual is written for the KX250-N1 launch configuration: a liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve single with semi-dry-sump lubrication, Keihin FCR37 carburetion, digital AC-CDI ignition with a throttle-position sensor, a five-speed transmission, an inverted Kayaba fork, and New Uni-Trak rear suspension. The supplementary model-information document identifies marketing code KX250N and adds factory engineering detail on the automatic decompression and hot-start systems, the ignition map, chassis and suspension changes, and optional rotors, carburetor-setting parts, sprockets, front-wheel equipment, and suspension springs.

Build-Specific Repair Notes
The crankcase assembly section identifies a separate bolt-tightening sequence for engine No. KX250NE014233 and later, a useful build break when the lower end has been opened. It also warns that the cam-chain tensioner is a non-return design; improper partial removal or turning the crankshaft with the tensioner out can disturb timing and damage the valve train. The crankcase halves are factory-machined as a matched set, and the bearing bosses must be supported during press work to avoid case damage.
Rear-shock oil service involves a pressurized nitrogen reservoir, and engine removal requires stable frame support because the swingarm pivot shaft is withdrawn. Brake, fuel, coolant, and ignition work also demand proper protective equipment; high-pressure shock or unfamiliar internal-engine repair should be handled by a qualified technician.
