Factory Settings and Post-Repair Calibration
The factory service material is organized around settings, followed by dismantling and mounting procedures, with the illustrated parts reference supplied separately. It expressly addresses service-workshop personnel and dealer staff who perform service work, assuming thorough knowledge of precision appliances and access to service tools. This is a bench-level repair and calibration reference, not a beginner's maintenance guide.
The settings section goes beyond a specification sheet. It provides check and adjustment procedures for 28 items and identifies the related settings that must be revisited after major assembly work. Hook replacement leads back to gear play, needle clearance, hook height, needle-bar height, and timing checks. Feed-unit or lower-shaft repair requires alignment, feed-dog height, hook synchronization, and basic and fine stitch-balance settings. Sewing-head rebuilding finishes with a defined group of needle, hook, threader, presser-foot, pivot, and center-position checks.
Named factory service tools include the hook-timing spacer and feeler gauge 63-102600-18/000 and 61-111600-02/000, feed-dog lift gauge 413 12 73-01, needle-height gauge 412 35 29-02, distance gauge 412 38 85-01, and ESD wrist strap 412 23 02-01. Service Program and Electrical Scope
The service program provides functional checks and calibration commands rather than a catalog of diagnostic fault codes. Menu 1 covers the three step-motor systems. Menu 2 checks the display, synchronizer, bobbin-winding, presser-foot, buttonhole, and foot-control sensors, with bobbin-thread and cutter-sequence tests for the 870/875 group. Menus 3 and 4 supply controlled stitch patterns, stitch-balance checks, operating-time data, and software-version information; Menu 5 tests the keyboard and LEDs.
Post-repair electronic settings are model dependent. After main PC-board replacement, the 830/835/850/855 group requires presser-foot height and sewing-head pivot settings. The 870/875 group requires the pivot position and its electronic upper-thread-tension points to be reset; the manual also distinguishes earlier software that provides three tension points instead of four.
Electrical coverage consists of power-supply pin test specifications and two pages titled “Circuit board - Circuit diagram”: one for the 830/835/850/855 group and one for the 870/875 group. These pages show PC-board connector and cable locations for the motor, sewing head, step motors, sensors, bobbin winder, power supply, and synchronizer. They are connection/location diagrams, not component-level electronic schematics.

Two repair traps are called out directly. The front cover must be eased away carefully to avoid damaging the foil-keyboard and display cables. The feed-step-motor retaining screw is left-hand threaded, so treating it as a standard fastener risks damaging the screw or threads. Disconnect the machine from power before removing the power supply or circuit board, and use the specified ESD controls whenever loose PC boards are handled.
