Kawasaki Manual Features & Content Preview
- Factory service information for the Kawasaki MULE 2510 Diesel / KAF950-A1 in a 334-page PDF, including 17 chapters and a two-page errata sheet.
- Fuel injection service covers pump and injection-pipe removal and installation, dial-gauge timing checks and adjustment, and nozzle pressure and spray-pattern testing.
- Engine removal and repair coverage extends through cylinder-head and valve-seat work, timing gears, crankshaft bearings, pistons, and cylinder boring and honing. Cooling procedures include pressure testing and air bleeding.
- Converter and transmission service covers belt replacement, drive and driven pulley disassembly, transmission case splitting, and Hi/Low, 2WD/4WD, and differential shift mechanisms.
- Front final-drive work includes limited-slip differential clutch inspection, pinion-bearing preload, bevel-gear backlash and tooth-contact adjustment, plus axle and joint-boot service.
- Hydraulic drum-brake repair covers master-cylinder service, wheel-cylinder inspection, and brake-line bleeding. Chassis sections address struts, leaf springs, rack-and-pinion steering adjustment, and wheel alignment.
- Electrical diagnosis reaches beyond the wiring diagram: alternator and starter repair, glow plugs, the preheating timer and relay, fuel cut solenoid, radiator fans, and warning-light switches are covered.
KAF950-A1 Coverage and Publication Details
This PDF reproduces Kawasaki Service Manual P/N 99924-1251-01, first edition, dated October 14, 1999. It covers the 953 mL, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder OHV diesel configuration.
The model-application table lists beginning frame numbers JK1AFDA1xYB500001 and JK1AF950AAB600001; x represents the digit that varies by vehicle. Match the model and frame identification when selecting this publication.
General identification and the Periodic Maintenance Chart open the manual. Repair sections provide component-specific torque tables, fluid-capacity data, wear limits, clearance specifications, and electrical test values.
Diesel Fuel System and Internal Engine Repair
The fuel-system chapter covers the Denso VE injection pump, including idle and maximum-speed adjustment. Fuel-filter water draining, bleeding, and nozzle leakage checks are covered separately. The Hard Starting flowchart connects fuel-delivery checks with the preheating system, injection timing, and fuel cut solenoid. Other charts address unstable idling, stalling, lack of power, excessive smoke, and failure to stop.
The fuel section is not a pump or nozzle bench-overhaul guide. Kawasaki directs internal repair to a specialist, such as a Denso Service Station, or calls for replacement. Timing work calls out Dial Gauge Adapter 57001-1430; cylinder compression testing uses Compression Gauge Adapter 57001-1431.
The engine chapters supply cylinder-head bolt tightening sequences, rocker-arm and valve-guide inspection, and valve-clearance adjustment. They also include oversize-piston and undersize-bearing repair data. An Engine Oil Flow Chart accompanies oil-pressure testing and inspection procedures for the pump and relief valve.
The cooling-system Flow Chart shows the front-and-rear radiator layout and thermostat bypass. Separate sections cover the water pump, radiator fans, thermostat, and pressure-relief cap.
Belt Drive, Final Drive, and Chassis Work
The Transmission Sectional Figure supports the internal gear and shaft procedures. Rear differential-lock service is separate from the front limited-slip unit. Propeller-shaft installation and engine mounting alignment are also documented; the latter uses Assembly Jig 57001-1365 to align the converter drive.
The pulley procedures flag a specific repair trap: applying the clutch holder to the spider assembly can break it. Brake coverage includes press-fit drum removal and installation, while suspension work extends to strut spring replacement and rear shock preload adjustment.
Wiring Reference and Included Errata
The Preheating System Circuit diagram accompanies the glow-plug control tests. A two-page vehicle wiring diagram identifies European-model horn and reverse-light details, and cable, wire, and hose routing drawings show installation paths.
Included errata 99929-1364-01 correct breather-hose routing, drive-belt orientation, oil-filling precautions, and rear shock mounting details. The oil-filling correction explains how filling too quickly can send oil through the crankcase breather into the intake, causing hydraulic lock and severe engine damage.
Working on diesel fuel systems involves extremely high pressures and specialized tooling. Always cross-reference the actual workshop documentation before servicing the engine, and ensure you have the appropriate training to handle these high-pressure components safely.
