Spindle revisions: Mower instructions identify changes to pulley shims and wave springs by tractor serial number. The manual warns that insufficient lubrication of the spindle braking surfaces can cause aggressive braking and component damage.

For its listed Briggs & Stratton engines, cold valve clearance is 0.005–0.007 in. at the intake and 0.009–0.011 in. at the exhaust.

For 170,000-, 190,000-, 191,000- and 253,000-series engines equipped with a two-leg armature, the specified armature air gap is 0.010–0.014 in.
