Pre-operation checks address the brakes, tires, wheels, engine oil, drive chain, fasteners, lights, switches, and fuel system.

Its specification tables separate carburetor identification marks 3TB00, 3UW00 for Germany, and 3UX00 for Switzerland; the maintenance text also identifies a 3WS Austrian setting and a German 20 kW configuration.

General model data identifies model code 3TB1, VIN prefix JYA3TB, and starting frame and engine number 3TB-000101. Because the Yamaha owner's manual carries the different 3WR2 engine designation, the motorcycle's model code should be matched before repair procedures or specifications are applied.
