Hyundai Manual Features & Content Preview

This five-file service-information set covers the Hyundai Tiburon designation shown in the manuals as TIBURON (RC), with the vehicle sections labeled G 2.0 DOHC. Body information is only one part of the set; the PDFs also cover powertrain, chassis, fuel management, electrical, HVAC, and restraint-system repair. The material is suited to technicians and experienced owners who understand workshop safety and can use scan tools, pressure gauges, pullers, presses, and system-specific service tools; it assumes that background rather than teaching basic repair practice.

  • Five PDF files / 6,196 pages: files named 1997 (1,262 pages), 1998 (1,268), 1999 (1,185), 2000 (1,227), and 2001 (1,254), with each PDF assembled from separately paginated system sections.

  • Beta 2.0 DOHC engine repair: covers compression testing, engine-and-transaxle assembly removal, cylinder-head and valve work, camshaft, crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons, timing-belt service, oil-pump work, and cooling-system testing, backed by torque tables, service limits, and clearance data.

  • A4BF1 automatic and M5BF1 hydraulic manual transaxles: details stall and oil-pressure tests, shift diagnosis, line- and reducing-pressure adjustment, valve-body and clutch repair, geartrain and differential service, input/output shafts, fifth-speed synchronizer, shift forks, and final checks.

  • OBD-II, MFI, and emissions diagnosis: includes DTC and symptom charts, fuel-pressure and pump tests, ECM and injector checks, MAF, TPS, crank/cam, oxygen, knock, and temperature-sensor circuits, plus EVAP components. Dedicated crankcase, evaporative, and exhaust-emissions chapters appear in the 1999-2001 files.

  • Brake, steering, suspension, clutch, and axle work: covers ABS diagnosis, hydraulic bleeding, master-cylinder and caliper repair, rear disc and drum brakes, steering gear and oil pump service, EPS checks, struts, hubs, lower and trailing arms, suspension bushings, and front drive shafts.

  • Body and trim repair: maps quarter glass, windshield and tailgate-glass sealing, crash pad, console and interior trim, fenders, bumpers, hood, front doors and door glass, tailgate, seats and belts, sunroof, and rear glass, with removal, installation, alignment, sealing, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Body electrical, HVAC, and SRS: addresses ETACS, shift/key-lock, power windows and locks, instruments, lighting, wipers, refrigerant evacuation and charging, leak and performance tests, heater/blower/evaporator service, and airbag, clock-spring, and SRSCM diagnosis.

Coverage Notes

The filename Tiburon_1998.pdf is not matched by its internal Tiburon headings: those chapters are labeled 1997. Its only 1998-labeled block is a separate ELANTRA (RD) G 1.8 DOHC Engine Mechanical System section. The 1997 file contains a comparable Elantra 1.8 engine section labeled 1997. These embedded Elantra chapters should not be read as Tiburon 1.8 vehicle coverage, and the 1998 filename should not be used by itself to select a year-specific repair procedure.

The 1999 and 2000 body chapters add upper- and rear-body dimensional drawings for collision and alignment reference. The 2001 material expands MFI and restraint diagnosis with sensor-specific DTC pages, scan-tool checks, SRS fault-isolation charts, and connector information.

Specific circuits and diagnostic graphics are included, but this set is not a separate Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. Several HVAC pages direct the reader to ETM schematics for additional circuit detail. Included examples range from the A4BF1 section and hydraulic-position views and Beta engine coolant-flow diagram to Tiburon ABS schematic diagrams, the A/T and key-lock circuit diagram, individual MFI sensor/actuator circuits, and SRS diagnostic flowcharts with SRSCM connector pinouts.

Workshop Data and Service Cautions

System chapters provide component-specific torque specifications, lubricants and sealants, capacities, pressure-test data, electrical values, service standards, inspection limits, adjustment data, and illustrated special-tool tables. Listed tools include door-hinge adjusting wrench 09793-21000, windshield sealant cut-out tool 09861-31100, valve-spring compressor 09221-29100, axle-shaft puller 09526-11001, and SRS wiring-harness checker 0957A-29000.

The repair cautions are component-specific. Pulling a front drive shaft instead of releasing it at the transaxle can damage the D.O.J., and inserting the pry bar too deeply can damage the oil seal. The steering/SRS material also warns that loss of steering position during gearbox work can damage the clock spring and leave the restraint system inoperative.

Airbag circuits, fuel and brake systems, refrigerant service, engine/transaxle lifting, and bonded-glass work require the specified isolation, recovery, lifting, and protective equipment.
