Hyundai Accent GLS 2006 Service Manual Set

The system-specific references pair mechanical repair procedures with electrical circuits, connector information, and diagnostic test data. The A4AF3 and M5CF1 sections distinguish the automatic and manual transaxle configurations when selecting procedures.

Engine Assembly and Cooling-System Work

Step-by-step procedures cover cylinder-head removal and disassembly, valve and spring inspection, camshaft service, valve-guide and seat-ring replacement, and final assembly. Internal engine coverage includes crankshaft and connecting-rod inspection, piston and cylinder measurement, and graded bearing-selection tables.

Separate lubrication and cooling sections address the oil pan and pump, water pump, thermostat, radiator testing, coolant refill and bleeding, and cooling-fan service. Intake and exhaust manifold work and exhaust-pipe removal are also documented.

Component-specific tables provide torque specifications, wear limits, clearances, oil-pressure values, lubricant requirements, and fluid capacities.

Automatic and Manual Transaxle Service

A4AF3: Mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic operating descriptions support the diagnostic procedures. Detailed checks cover pulse generators, fluid-temperature sensing, pressure-control and shift solenoids, kick-down operation, and the range switch.

The automatic-transaxle reference also documents valve-body removal, solenoid replacement, line-pressure and reducing-pressure adjustment, transaxle removal/installation, and shift-lever disassembly and reassembly.

M5CF1: The manual-transaxle material adds oil-level checks, linkage adjustment, shift-lever disassembly, end-play data, lubricant specifications, and symptom-based troubleshooting.

Neither transaxle reference provides a complete internal rebuild sequence. The automatic section nevertheless includes the valve-body and control-system work described above.

Engine Diagnostics and Wiring Variants

A 131-entry P- and U-code chart is accompanied by OBD-II diagnostic logic, live-data references, circuit tests, and repair-verification routines. Topics include CVVT timing, MAF/IAT/ECT/TPS signals, oxygen sensors, catalyst efficiency, injectors, misfire detection, fuel-pump control, EVAP leaks, idle control, charging voltage, A/C pressure input, and CAN/TCU communication.

Connector assignments and code-specific tests connect scan-tool findings to individual circuits, supporting fault isolation before components are selected for further testing. ABS, automatic-transmission, and SRS references provide their own DTC charts and component checks.

Chassis, HVAC, and Cabin Systems

Brakes and chassis: Additional procedures address calipers, brake-pedal and switch adjustment, booster testing, master-cylinder service, proportioning-valve data, and bleeding. Steering and suspension references extend to the stabilizer bar, front hub/knuckle, rear hub/carrier, torsion beam, shock absorbers, and coil springs.

HVAC: R-134a service information includes compressor-oil checks, compressor clutch and field-coil disassembly, condenser and refrigerant-line replacement, pressure-transducer diagnosis, and control-system testing. The automatic climate-control section includes self-diagnosis, a fault-code chart, and code retrieval through the control panel or Hi-Scan Pro.

Body and accessories: Separate references cover fuses and relays, cabin-air-filter replacement, seat and trim work, and testing or replacement of cabin switches, motors, and other accessory components.

Special Tools and Repair Cautions

Powertrain test tools include automatic-transaxle pressure gauge 09452-21500 with adapters 09452-21001/21002, plus fuel-pressure gauge 09353-24100, adapter 09353-38000, and connector 09353-24000.

The procedures also identify engine-support fixture 09200-38001, clutch-disc guide 09411-25000, SRS deployment tool 0957A-34100A, and harness dummy 0957A-38200 with system-specific adapters.

The A4AF3 installation section warns that mounting the torque converter to the engine first can damage the transaxle oil seal. Timing-belt tensioning includes crankshaft-rotation cautions concerning possible engine damage.

SRS precautions cover battery isolation and the required waiting period of at least three minutes. Direct resistance measurements at an airbag or pretensioner squib can trigger deployment.

Compression-Test Specification Preview

For the 1.6 CVVT engine at normal operating temperature, the compression-test reference gives a standard of 1,422 kPa (206 psi) at 250–400 rpm.

It also specifies a minimum of 1,275 kPa (185 psi) and a maximum cylinder-to-cylinder difference of 98 kPa (14 psi). Accompanying diagnostic notes address pressure loss associated with piston rings, cylinder wear, valve seating, and gasket leakage.
