The 1996–2006 Jaguar XK8 (X100) Workshop Manual, P/N JJM 10 04 14/7, covers coupe and convertible configurations with the AJ26 4.0-liter V8 and ZF 5HP24 automatic transmission. The Front Suspension and Final Drive Unit illustrations show the aluminum crossbeam, independent rear suspension, and Type 14 HU mounting arrangement. Front bearing procedures identify remover JD 237 and installer JD 238; final drive work specifies spring compressor JD 199.

The front bearing procedure warns that circlip-plier contact can damage the integral bearing seal.

The Anti-Lock Braking Control layout identifies the hydraulic circuits, tandem master cylinder, and ABS/traction-control hardware. Front rotor replacement includes a runout check; rear brake procedures cover pad replacement. Torque tables include wheel hubs, calipers, and wishbone fasteners.

AJ26 Engine, Transmission and Exhaust

The Engine System section supplies lubricant specifications, capacities, and an AJ26 overview. It does not contain internal engine repair or timing-chain procedures.

Transmission removal specifies JD-222 lifting brackets and MS-53C engine support. Torque-converter replacement is covered separately. Internal transmission overhaul is outside this volume, and transmission fluid draining and filling refer to the separate Diagnostic and Test Manual.

Exhaust illustrations distinguish North American downstream oxygen sensors from Japanese-market temperature sensors, helping match the downpipe configuration before replacement.

Power Steering and Air Conditioning

Power-steering coverage describes the ZF variable-ratio rack-and-pinion system and its fluid and fastening specifications. Steering-column procedures extend to the tilt motor, ignition switch, lock barrel, and steering-wheel alignment.

The Air Conditioning System layout identifies refrigerant components and service ports. Compressor replacement includes oil-quantity accounting; refrigerant recovery and charging procedures are referenced to the separate Diagnostic and Test Manual.

Electrical Components and Diagnostic Limits

The Electronic Control Modules – SCP Network and Fuse-boxes illustrations locate body-control modules and distinguish LHD/RHD engine-management fuse-box positions. Window-position relearning after power interruption helps distinguish lost position memory from a failed window component.

Lighting and in-vehicle entertainment sections provide replacement procedures, with base/premium audio and coupe/convertible speaker differences.

Detailed wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, and DTC charts are not included. The Diagnostic and Test Manual and On-board Diagnostics Manual are separate publications and are not part of this PDF.

Body Repair, Restraints and Convertible Top

Body work extends to dashboard and center-console removal, door-handle and lock-barrel service, and rear-bumper replacement. Occupant-restraint procedures cover airbags, control modules, and primary crash sensors, with separate LHD/RHD control-module access procedures.

Convertible-top coverage explains operation and emergency manual handling, without pump or frame overhaul procedures. The manual warns that incorrect manual lowering can severely damage the top frame and operating linkages.

Note: Suspension and drivetrain work requires rated lifting equipment and secure vehicle supports. Follow the manual's precautions for compressed springs, refrigerant handling, and airbag backup power.
