Hitachi Manual Features & Content Preview
- Coverage: Covers the Hitachi EX60-3 (STD. TRACK) and EX60LC-3 (LC TRACK) hydraulic excavators from serial number 40001 and up. The 594-page PDF set contains Hitachi Parts Catalog P/N PIOS-I-2 (476 pages) and Equipment Components Parts Catalog P/N PIOS-EI-1 (118 pages).
- Upperstructure and controls: Illustrated group plates cover the frame, counterweight, engine installation, radiator and supports, fuel and hydraulic oil systems, pump and swing devices, control levers, engine-control linkage, main piping, and pilot piping.
- Undercarriage and travel: Exploded assembly views identify track frames, upper and lower rollers, swing bearing, travel device, center joint, travel piping, standard- and LC-track links, and rubber-crawler configurations.
- Front and optional equipment: Separate coverage is provided for standard, short-reach, super-short-reach, and long-arm fronts, plus offset boom, blade, vibrator, hose-rupture valve, and breaker/crusher piping arrangements.
- Hydraulic component detail: The 118-page component catalog adds 47 exploded-view plates for piston and gear pumps, oil motors, control, pilot, solenoid, relief, FC, lock, and slow-return valves, plus boom, arm, bucket, offset, and blade cylinders.
- Parts-reference scope: Bilingual Japanese/English plates and tables provide item references, Hitachi part numbers, quantities, service codes, serial applicability, interchangeability, and replacement-part information. This set identifies parts; it does not provide workshop repair procedures, specifications, diagnostic charts, or wiring schematics.
These factory catalogs support parts identification during repair planning and ordering. They are suited to technicians, parts-counter staff, and experienced owners who can match nameplate and component data to illustrated parts tables; they are not written as step-by-step repair instructions.
Coverage Codes That Prevent a Wrong Match
The main catalog treats the EX60-3 as STD. TRACK and the EX60LC-3 as LC TRACK. Regional tags distinguish STD, EU, and N. EUROPE builds; the foreword defines N. EUROPE as machines delivered to Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Those splits appear in pilot piping, accumulators, gauge panels, electrical groups, cabs, seats, heaters, and related trim.
Applicability can be narrower than the cover range. Parts may be keyed to a machine serial number, production date, hydraulic-unit serial number for a pump, motor, or control valve, or front-attachment number for a bucket, boom, or arm. The catalog identifies the machine nameplate on the main frame at the lower right side of the cab.
Assemblies, Piping, and Machine Options
PIOS-I-2 follows the machine from the frame, counterweight, engine mounting, radiator support, reserve tank, air cleaner, muffler, and fuel system through the pump device, swing device, oil tank, oil-cooler piping, and main hydraulic piping. The control pages separate the engine-control motor, cable, and lever; operating and travel levers; lever lock; pilot-piping layouts; accumulator; and LC-track shockless parts. Cab coverage extends to the switch box, gauge panel, radio, electric-parts groups, heater, air conditioner, seat stands, doors, locks, and interior covers.
Attachment sections distinguish standard, short-reach, super-short-reach, and long-arm equipment. They also cover offset-boom and blade systems, vibrator piping and electrical parts, rubber crawlers, 25S-type buckets, and a slope-finishing blade. Auxiliary hydraulic coverage separates NPK breaker/crusher piping, Okada/Furukawa breaker and crusher arrangements, and three boom hose-rupture-valve piping layouts.
Inside the Hydraulic Component Catalog
PIOS-EI-1 goes below the whole-assembly level. Its piston-pump coverage separates the control, hanger, rotary group, cover, case, and gear-pump sections. Other plates break down oil motors, including the travel motor; control, pilot, solenoid, relief, flow-control, lock, and slow-return valves; and the boom, arm, bucket, offset-boom, and blade cylinders.
Representative drawing titles include PUMP; PISTON, MOTOR; OIL (TRAVEL), VALVE; CONTROL, VALVE; SLOW-RETURN, CYL.; ARM (OFFSET BOOM), and CYL.; BLADE. The keyed tables show component hierarchy, quantities, service codes, applicability, and superseding part numbers. Numerical parts indexes support direct part-number lookup, while the main catalog also includes illustrated onboard tools, spare parts, and nameplates.
Parts-Selection Rules and Repair Scope
The ICA and Replaceable Part columns distinguish one-way substitution, part numbers that must be replaced with the listed substitute, assembly-level replacement, and fully interchangeable parts. During a repair, a W-coded item should not be treated as ready to install, and an R-coded quantity is not fixed—the catalog specifically uses adjusting shims as its example. Ignoring those flags can misfit an assembly and put precision parts at risk; H-coded precision parts are referred to an authorized repair source.
The machine catalog shows the installed engine assembly, mounts, belt, filters, and sensors, but directs detailed engine-parts lookup to the separate Nissan Diesel BD30 parts catalog. For teardown, installation, pressure testing, torque values, clearances, electrical diagnosis, or any other repair procedure, use the applicable Hitachi workshop documentation. Follow shop safety practices before working on pressurized hydraulics, raised attachments, or heavy assemblies.
