The factory cautions also identify component-specific failure risks. Contaminated hydrostatic fluid can damage or destroy the close-tolerance pump and wheel motors, while turning the Perkins crankshaft with the idler gear removed can allow piston-to-valve contact and disturb both valve and injection-pump timing. Lift-truck repair must be performed with the truck, mast, and raised components correctly supported, hydraulic pressure released, and tire and brake work handled with the training and equipment specified in the applicable section.
