For complete PCM/MSA fault diagnosis and the fuel-shutdown-solenoid test, the manual directs the technician to the separate 1997 ZJ/ZG 2.5L Diesel Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures manual. A full internal VM diesel engine overhaul chapter is not included in this PDF. That distinction matters when selecting the publication for a diesel repair.

Automatic-transmission removal keeps the torque converter with the transmission to protect the driveplate, pump bushing, and front seal.
