Yamaha Manual Features & Content Preview
- Coverage: The service manual PDF is labeled for 2012-13 and identifies XV19SB(C), XV19CTSB(C), XV19CSB(C), and XV19CB(C) configurations. The owner's manual is specifically for the 2012 XV19CSB(C)/XV19CB(C).
- Engine repair depth: Walks through valve-clearance adjustment; engine removal and installation; camshaft, rocker-arm, push-rod, and hydraulic-lifter service; cylinder-head and valve work; piston and cylinder inspection; crankcase separation; oil-pump service; and crankshaft/connecting-rod work.
- Clutch and drivetrain: Details hydraulic clutch removal, inspection, assembly, and bleeding; transfer gear case and oil-pump service; transmission, shift-drum, and shift-fork inspection; and final-drive belt and pulley removal, inspection, installation, and adjustment.
- Chassis work: Includes wheel disassembly and static balancing, front and rear brake master-cylinder/caliper overhaul and bleeding, front-fork rebuild, steering-head service, swingarm and rear-shock work, plus touring-equipment procedures for XV19CTS(C).
- Fuel and electrical diagnosis: Provides fuel-pump, injector, pressure-regulator, throttle-position-sensor, and ISC checks along with ECU self-diagnosis, diagnostic mode, fault-code tables, circuit troubleshooting, and sensor/actuator test data.
- Diagrams and routing: Uses clutch and transfer-gear exploded job diagrams, an FI system layout, engine-oil lubrication charts, variant-specific cable-routing views, subsystem circuit diagrams, and separate 2012 wiring diagrams for the XV19SB(C)/XV19CTSB(C) and XV19CSB(C)/XV19CB(C) families.
- Publication details: 619 PDF pages total - a 523-page service manual PDF (including a 23-page duplicate scan of clutch pages 5-53 through 5-75) and a 96-page owner's manual. Yamaha P/N LIT-11616-25-48 (service) and LIT-11626-25-51 (owner's).
This two-file set combines Yamaha's OEM service manual and owner's manual for the 1,854 cc air-cooled OHV V-twin platform. Yamaha states that the service manual was produced primarily for its dealers and qualified mechanics and assumes a basic understanding of motorcycle mechanics and repair techniques. The owner's manual supplies the operating, inspection, and basic-maintenance material intended for the motorcycle owner.
Model and Variant Detail
The service manual does more than group these motorcycles under one XV19 label. Its model table separates U.S., California, and Canadian builds across 1D7-series XV19SB, 2C5-series XV19CTSB, 1US/30B XV19CB, and 29P/5C7 XV19CSB configurations. Separate instrument descriptions, cable-routing plates, exhaust and headlight procedures, front-fork installation notes, brake specifications, and secondary-drive data preserve the S/CTS versus CS/C differences. California-only canister and rollover-valve coverage is identified where applicable. Touring-model sections cover the windshield, backrest, sidebags, and their brackets.
Engine and Drivetrain Repair
The engine chapters go well beyond routine tune-up. They cover the gear-driven camshafts, decompression system, rocker assemblies, push rods, valve lifters - including lifter bleeding - cylinder heads, valve seats and guides, pistons, balancer gears, dry-sump lubrication, transfer drive, crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods, and internal five-speed transmission. Repair sections pair the procedures with inspection limits, bearing selections, lubricant points, assembly marks, and component-specific torque sequences. Separate reference tables cover fluid capacities, valve and spark-plug clearances, drive-belt and brake wear limits, tire and suspension data, fuse ratings, and electrical test values.
Yamaha specifically cautions that reversing, twisting, or sharply bending the drive belt can damage it. The hydraulic brake and clutch chapters warn that incorrect or mixed fluid can deteriorate rubber seals and impair system operation; hose routing and bleeding checks are documented before the motorcycle is returned to service.
Fuel Injection and Electrical Diagnostics
Fuel-system coverage follows the tank, sub-fuel tank, pump, injectors, throttle bodies, rollover valves, pressure regulator, throttle-position sensor, and ISC unit. Electrical chapters provide circuit diagrams and fault-isolation paths for ignition, electric starting, charging, lighting, signaling, fuel injection, and the fuel-pump system. Diagnostic tables address crankshaft, intake-air, throttle, oxygen, engine-temperature, lean-angle, and speed sensors as well as coils, injectors, the EXUP servo, ISC, ECU power, and communications. Connector handling, switch continuity, relay and diode checks, charging-system tests, and component-specific electrical specifications are also included.
Factory tool references identify the rear drive-belt tension gauge (YM-03170 / 90890-03170), Vacuummate/vacuum gauge (YU-44456 / 90890-03094), fuel-pressure adapter (YM-03176 / 90890-03176), and universal clutch holder (YM-91042 / 90890-04086).
Owner's Guide Scope
The 96-page owner's manual covers controls and instruments, pre-operation checks, starting, shifting, break-in, parking, maintenance charts, engine and transfer-case oil service, drive-belt slack, tires, brake and clutch-fluid checks, battery and fuses, lighting, care and storage, specifications, maintenance records, and U.S. warranty information. Its model coverage is limited to XV19CSB(C) and XV19CB(C), so it does not supply the owner-level instructions for XV19SB(C) or XV19CTSB(C).
