Examples of Valve-Clearance and Compression Specifications

For the VQ35DE, the cold valve-clearance specifications are 0.26–0.34 mm for intake valves and 0.29–0.37 mm for exhaust valves. The adjustment section covers selection of replacement lifters; adjusting shims are not used.

Compression-test data lists a standard pressure of 1,275 kPa at 300 rpm, with the engine at normal operating temperature and the throttle fully open. Minimum pressure and cylinder-to-cylinder difference limits accompany the test procedure.
