Engine, Chassis and Electronic Control Service

• Periodic maintenance: Emission-control and general maintenance charts, valve-clearance adjustment, throttle-body synchronization, drive-chain adjustment, and lubrication checks.

• Engine and drivetrain repair: Step-by-step procedures for engine removal, cylinder-head and crankcase disassembly, piston and crankshaft inspection, wet-clutch service, and transmission reassembly.

• Fork and chassis service: Front-fork disassembly and seal installation, steering-head bearing replacement, wheel-bearing service, swingarm lubrication, and rear-suspension linkage inspection.

Internal Engine Inspection and Assembly

Crankshaft and connecting-rod sections include Plastigauge clearance checks and bearing-selection information. Transmission inspection extends to shaft runout, gear-dog wear, shift-fork movement and gear engagement.

Exploded assembly diagrams and job instruction charts identify parts, job order, replacement items and lubrication points for bench work.

The camshaft section warns that uneven cap-bolt tightening can damage the cylinder head, camshaft caps and camshafts.

FI Diagnosis, YCC-T and Idle Control

The fuel-injection explanation connects sensor inputs with ECU-controlled injection duration and timing. Fault-code tables pair probable causes with checks and confirmation after service, helping distinguish connector or wiring faults from component failures before replacement.

Throttle-body service includes ISC learning-value resets after cleaning or replacement. The synchronization section identifies the white-marked reference bypass screw and warns that disturbing it can cause rough idle and improper throttle-body operation.

The FI section specifies Yamaha diagnostic tool 90890-03215 and refers detailed tool operation to its separate operating manual. California-only canister and rollover-valve procedures are identified separately.

Fork Differences and Rear-Shock Limits

Front-fork procedures distinguish the left and right damper assemblies and specify separate oil quantities. Rear-shock coverage addresses removal, inspection, linkage service and assembly replacement; the manual expressly warns against opening the nitrogen-charged shock.

A Preview of Valve and Coolant Specifications

The cold valve-clearance specifications are 0.11–0.20 mm for the intake valves and 0.26–0.30 mm for the exhaust valves, with shim-selection information in the adjustment section.

Cooling data distinguishes the radiator capacity, including all routes, at 1.93 L from the coolant reservoir capacity at 0.25 L up to the maximum-level mark.
