Model-Specific Repair and Diagnostic Coverage
All three craft share the 1165 cc Polaris Marine 1200 three-cylinder architecture, but coverage is not interchangeable. Genesis Keihin carburetors have mixture settings and a manual synchronization procedure. X-45 Bing carburetors have no high- or low-speed mixture screws; jet selection is the tuning method, and the welded synchronization screws are not to be disturbed. Genesis FICHT idle is EMM-programmed and not mechanically adjustable; its ignition timing is also controlled by the EMM. The in-tank FICHT fuel-pump module is treated as a complete replacement unit rather than a rebuildable assembly, with removal, sender, water-separating filter, and pump-test coverage. Its chapters go beyond conventional fuel-system repair with an EMM service-code chart, preliminary system-isolation tests, symptom-based diagnostic guides, fuel and ignition action steps, service-code retrieval, and sensor/actuator test specifications.
The manual explains the original DOS-era Polaris Diagnostic Software, not just the trouble-code list. Several factory cautions are easy to miss during a repair. The thermostat/pop-off assembly must go back in the correct stack and flow orientation or engine damage can occur quickly; the oil-pump O-ring must be renewed and positioned correctly to keep water out of the flywheel area. Engine alignment shims must stay in their original locations, and the manual warns not to use the solid-coupler removal tool on the rubber-dampened coupler. Fuel-system pressure tests, high-voltage FICHT ignition checks, battery service, and any work around the exposed driveshaft or jet pump should be performed only with the full Polaris procedure and safety instructions in hand.
