They explain PCB interconnections, HDD partition roles, startup and E602 behavior, reader-input and printer-output processing, and image-data paths for copier, Box, SEND, fax, and PDL functions. Repair, Adjustment, and Diagnostic Coverage
Replacement procedures are tied to the setup work required after parts are installed. The standards and adjustments chapter covers CIS and glass replacement, reader-controller data restoration, laser-scanner delay entry, ITB and transfer initialization, drum-life initialization, developer stir/init/supply routines, full gradation correction, fixing-nip adjustment, thermistor and thermal-switch positioning, controller/SRAM/HDD replacement, and cassette, duplex, and manual-feed registration. This lets the technician complete a mechanical repair with its associated service-mode setup.
Fault isolation is organized around factory test prints and symptom-based cases. The manual provides 16-gradation, full-page halftone, grid, MCYBk horizontal-stripe, 64-gradation, and full-color 16-gradation patterns. Separate sections address image faults, faulty feeding, malfunctions, and jams. A cyclic-defect interval chart links repeating marks to likely rotating components, while the electrical reference maps clutches, solenoids, motors, sensors, heaters, lamps, PCBs, LEDs, variable resistors, and check pins. Self-diagnosis covers E-code groups from E000 through E805. Service mode is documented under DISPLAY, I/O, ADJUST, FUNCTION, OPTION, and TEST for COPIER, FEEDER, SORTER, DC-CON, R-CON, MN-CON, and BOARD groups.
Two repair traps show why the factory procedure matters. If the developing-unit screw base rides over its guide plate, the drum-to-developing-cylinder relationship is altered and blank output can result. Interrupting power while the HDD progress bar or a firmware-writing screen is active can damage the HDD or leave the machine unable to start. Electrical, PCB, heater, and laser-area work should follow the manual’s power-isolation warnings; the laser unit is not field-adjustable.
Chapter 17 identifies special tools by tool number: FY9-2002 digital multimeter, TKN-0093 cover-switch tool, FY9-3038 and FY9-3039 tester extension pins, FY9-9030 CA1 test sheet, FY9-9129 D-10 test sheet, and CK-0056 loupe.
