This Nissan Skyline R33 engine service manual covers the RB20E, RB25DE, RB25DET and RB26DETT, including GT-R engine applications. It is JPNZ’s English-language reconstruction of the Japanese manual, with material adapted for different driving conditions.

Engine Overhaul and Valve Timing

The RB26DETT section goes into cylinder-head disassembly, valve-guide and seat inspection, and piston, connecting-rod and crankshaft measurement. Main- and connecting-rod-bearing selection charts link component grades to bearing choice, helping identify suitable replacement bearings during an overhaul.

Valve-train coverage distinguishes the hydraulic lifters in the RB20E and RB25 engines from the RB26DETT’s adjustment shims. The RB25 intake-camshaft section warns that using a pulley holder on its timing pulley can damage the internal mechanism.

Turbochargers, Intake and Fuel Delivery

Air-cleaner and intake-duct procedures extend through injector removal and fuel-system checks. For the RB26DETT, throttle-linkage illustrations accompany synchronization and adjustment procedures, while vacuum-hose routing distinguishes standard and N1 configurations.

Turbocharger diagnosis connects oil leakage, exhaust smoke, noise and poor power with possible faults. The turbo sections cover removal, inspection and actuator testing; they prohibit dismantling the turbocharger body.

The actuator inspection notes explain how excessive test pressure can damage the swing-valve controller diaphragm.

ECCS Diagnosis and Engine Wiring

Separate engine circuit diagrams, ECCS Control Unit Pin Layout tables and Input/Output Signal charts include connector references, test conditions and oscilloscope waveforms. These references support checking power, grounds and harness continuity before attributing a fault to a sensor or control unit.

Fault-finding covers hard starting, unstable idle, hesitation and stalling. The RB26DETT chapters also address dual airflow-meter signals, fuel-pump control modulator operation and boost-control solenoid diagnosis.

The electrical content concentrates on engine management; it is not a complete body-electrical repair manual.

Oil Coolers and Selected Brake Coverage

Oil-cooler service separates the standard RB26DETT water-cooled unit from the N1 air-cooled installation. Mechanical inspection data cover clearances and wear limits, with tightening torques provided alongside component procedures.

The brake pages include GT-R OPB27V front and OPB13V rear caliper exploded views. This engine volume does not include full transmission or chassis overhaul procedures.
