Thread direction and component handling: The clutch carrier nut and middle driven pinion gear bearing retainer have left-hand threads. The middle-gear section also warns that direct hydraulic-press contact can damage the driven pinion’s threaded end.

Front-differential coverage includes gearcase disassembly, motor testing, gear-lash adjustment, and preload checks. The internal differential unit remains assembled; Yamaha cautions that dismantling it can cause malfunction.

Rear final-drive work goes further into pinion positioning, shim selection, backlash adjustment, and thrust-washer clearance. Troubleshooting charts address driveline noise, faulty gear shifting, clutch slipping, and loss of drive.

Fuel Injection Tests and Fault Isolation

For valve-clearance inspection on a cold engine, the manual lists 0.09–0.13 mm for the intake valves and 0.16–0.20 mm for the exhaust valves. Its NGK CR8E spark-plug inspection specifies a gap of 0.7–0.8 mm.

The fuel-pump and pressure-regulator test specifies 324 kPa with the engine running, alongside the gauge connection and evaluation procedure.
