Canon Manual Features & Content Preview
The 2006 Canon U.S.A. service publication is specific to the original PIXMA Pro9000 photo printer. The original-Pro9000 repair material includes a 38-page service-manual PDF and a separate Parts Catalog with five numbered illustrated pages plus its cover. This is not Pro9000 Mark II service coverage.

Repair and Adjustment Coverage
Logic-board assembly replacement is tied to EEPROM initialization, absorber-counter reset, destination programming, automatic print-head-alignment sensor correction, an ink-system function check, and final alignment. Destination settings cover Japan, Korea, the United States, Europe, Australia, Asia, China, and Taiwan. The manual also gives the parts-planning rule for replacing ink absorber kit QY5-0165 when the stored absorber value is 7% or higher.
Carriage-unit repair coverage includes lubrication, carriage-shaft position adjustment, alignment-sensor correction, and final print checks. Paper-feed motor replacement requires motor-position and belt-tension adjustment, while feed-roller replacement is followed by line-feed correction. The lubrication table and location graphic cover 24 numbered applications using FLOIL KG-107A (QY9-0057-000), EU-1 (QY9-0037-000), MOLYKOTE PG641 (CK-0562-000), and MOLYKOTE HP300 (QY9-0035-000).
The EEPROM information print is a detailed service record rather than a basic counter page. It identifies the model and destination, ROM version, interface, absorber status, installation date, recorded operator and service errors, purging and cleaning counts, print-head and ink-tank replacement counts, ink status, alignment values, auto sheet feeder and front-tray page totals by media, page-size totals, temperatures, and print-head EEPROM data. The service test print then checks nozzle output, feed and carriage accuracy, and straight-line positioning after repair.
The maintenance tables separate customer operations—head alignment, standard and deep cleaning, nozzle checks, roller cleaning, bottom-plate cleaning, and ink-tank replacement—from service-engineer adjustments. Canon lists no periodic engineer maintenance or scheduled service-part replacement for this model. Product-life data specifies 21,000 pages or five years, whichever comes first, for the printer, with the same page basis for the print head. The print-head section identifies QY6-0055-000 and warns that Japanese-market BCI-7e tanks are not compatible with the CLI-8 tanks used by non-Japanese models.
Technical Reference and Parts Identification
The cleaning reference separates on-arrival, dot-count, timer, print-head replacement, ink-tank replacement, manual, deep-cleaning, and uncapped-head conditions, with the related purge groups and service data. Print-mode charts distinguish color and monochrome output through a computer or Camera Direct connection across plain, glossy, matte, fine-art, board, transparency, and transfer media. The Pro9000 FAQ addresses edge unevenness in monochrome printing, Photo Rag abrasion, slow monochrome throughput, carriage obstruction during setup, partially seated ink tanks, low-humidity paper abrasion, paper curl while waiting for data, and fine-art paper debris that can affect nozzle output.
The separate parts catalog matters because the service text is not a full teardown manual. Canon states that the manual does not provide sufficient disassembly and reassembly detail and directs technicians to the catalog graphics. Those exploded views identify replaceable assemblies and part numbers, but they do not provide a complete step-by-step overhaul sequence.
Scope and Repair Cautions
The PDF does not contain the seven Part 3 appendix pages for the block diagram or the logic-board and carriage-board connector-location/pin-layout sections listed in its table of contents; it resumes at the Pro9000 specification sheets. Do not expect a complete wiring-diagram or connector-pinout set in this file.
The factory-set center red screw for the carriage upper shaft must not be loosened; the head-to-paper spacing cannot be restored at a local service center once that setting is disturbed. Grease contamination or bending damage to the timing slit strip or disk can cause enlarged or distorted output, while incorrect flexible-cable routing can damage conductors and create an ignition or smoke risk. Before logic-board repair, isolate power and allow the stored capacitor charge to discharge; transportation guidance also requires the carriage locked at home with the print head and ink tanks installed to avoid cable stress and ink leakage.
