Engine and Transmission Scope

Engine/transmission work is arranged by access level. Top-side, left-side, and right-side components can be serviced with the powerplant in the frame, while splitting the center crankcase halves requires engine/transmission removal. Internal coverage moves through valve, rocker-arm, camshaft, piston, ring, cylinder, crankshaft, countershaft, oil-pump, centrifugal-clutch, one-way-clutch, and driven-pulley inspection and assembly.

The countershaft dogs and gears are directional; installing a major component backward can damage the transmission or force another complete teardown. At the top end, incorrect cam-sprocket tab-washer placement can allow the alignment pin to escape and cause severe engine damage.

Fuel, Cooling, and Electrical Diagnosis

The Keihin CVK36 section provides removal, disassembly, cleaning, jet and float inspection, accelerator-pump diaphragm assembly, installation, and idle adjustment references. Lubrication procedures include oil-pump teardown, pump-pressure testing, and a separate oil-cooler restriction test. Cooling-system work addresses the combined radiator/oil-cooler assembly, thermostat testing, fan replacement, water-pump replacement, and refill checks for trapped air.

Electrical coverage is built around voltage, resistance, output, and peak-voltage testing. It traces ignition-coil and CDI faults, magneto and stator output, regulator/rectifier performance, starter and relay operation, dash switches, the 2WD/4WD selector, and the front-drive actuator.
