EPSON Stylus Pro 4800/4400 Service & Repair Manual (P/N SEIJ04008)

This OEM service and repair manual covers the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 and 4400 large-format inkjet printers, including the 4800’s 8-color and 4400’s 4-color configurations. Manual code SEIJ04008, Revision A, was issued June 2, 2005.

Model Differences and Disassembly Limits

Disassembly procedures are based on the 8-color model, with a dedicated differences table for the 4-color model. The 4400 lacks the right ink holder; its ink tubes route to the left I/H unit, and several C511_SUB-B connectors are unused.

The tool list identifies the Head Exchange Support Tool (1294672) and ASF Exchange Support Tool (1401458). Carriage-shaft fastening screws are excluded from field disassembly because loosening them disturbs factory alignment. Other precision assemblies outside the listed repair procedures require factory service.

Fault Diagnosis and Operating Principles

The troubleshooting chapter separates panel-message faults from symptoms in the printout. It distinguishes nozzle loss affecting all colors from a single-color problem, with checks directed to the ink path, cleaning mechanism, printhead connections, and control board.
