Factory Documentation Overview
This factory manual outlines preventive maintenance schedules and overhaul procedures for the Yamaha Breeze 125, with separate YFM125S supplementary material. Written for mechanics, it combines sequential repair procedures with component measurements and special-tool references.
The YFM125S supplement refers to Yamaha Manual No. 3FA-28197-10 for base maintenance and 3FA-28197-12 for switch checks.
Model Codes and Supplement Differences
The 3FA base-model identification section lists starting engine serials 3FA-000101 for U.S. and Australian machines, and 3FA-031101 for Canada, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark.
The M(C) supplement separates non-California 3FAR from California 3FAP specifications. The P/PC supplement distinguishes 3FAW and 3FAX, respectively. Their carburetor tables identify different calibrations rather than one setting for every version.
The 1C51 YFM125S material addresses DC C.D.I., revised charging and lighting circuits, and carrier and fender removal. The P/PC supplement also adds brake-light-switch testing and a steering-system view identifying the cable joint and its bracket.
Engine and Belt-Drive Repair
Beyond the main overhaul sequence, the engine chapter covers valve-guide replacement, valve-seat work, oil-pump inspection, cam-chain timing, and crankshaft/balancer alignment. It identifies top-end and drive components that can be removed with the engine still in the frame.
The Lubrication Diagram traces oil delivery, while the Primary Sheave and Secondary Sheave exploded view details the belt-drive assembly. The tool list identifies crankcase separator YU-01135 / 90890-01135 and clutch spring holder YS-28891 / 90890-01337.
Crankcase-separation cautions address damage to gasket-mating surfaces from striking or forcing the case halves.
Fuel, Steering, and Rear-Axle Service
The Carburetor Sectional View identifies air, fuel, and mixture passages. Fuel-level testing specifies gauge 90890-01312, while maintenance coverage distinguishes the engine air filter from the V-belt compartment filter. The M(C) supplement includes spark-arrester cleaning.
Rear-axle repair includes the inner/outer nut tightening procedure and hub bearing and seal replacement. Steering coverage addresses tie-rod positioning as well as toe-in. The rear-axle instructions warn that direct hammer blows can damage the axle threads and splines.
Electrical Diagnosis and Document Scope
Electrical repair includes starter-motor disassembly, brush and commutator inspection, armature tests, and starter-relay/cutoff-relay diagnosis. Ignition System, Electric Starting System, and Charging System circuit diagrams accompany the related troubleshooting flows. Switch-continuity charts and lead-color references support harness checks.
Scope note: The base section’s reverse-indicator troubleshooting flow stops after the shift-lever-switch check on printed page 7-48; its continuation is not included.
Technical Reference and Specification Highlights
Reference tables cover cylinder-head flatness, compression-test data, engine and chassis tightening torques, fluid capacities, and wear limits. Electrical specifications include pickup-coil resistance and starter-motor armature test values.
Standard shop safety practices and proper protective equipment are essential, especially when the ATV is raised or spring-loaded clutch parts are being serviced.
