The Farmall Super M Series tractors produced by International Harvester from 1939 to 1953 are amazing row crop tractors that were designed by Raymond Loewy. The M series were the largest of global harvester's row crop tractors during its original production. Commencing right in 1941, the Farmall M tractor production accorded with the Farmall MD, a diesel version of the Farmall M that would start on gasoline until warmed up effectively to switch to diesel. A total of 18,253 MD tractors were manufactured. In addition, IH made the Farmall Super M from 1952 to 1954. The Super M series included a bigger engine than the standard M, at 264 cu in (4,330 cc). Different from the Super M series, the Super MTA (tractor with a torque amplifier) and the Super MD (the diesel version of the Super M), were produced. In all, we have 5,199 Super MD tractors, 44,551 Super M tractors and 26,924 Super MTA tractors. High-clearance alternatives for farming vegetables and other high crops were also made, including the Farmall MV and the MDV (diesel).
In the U.S, the M was manufactured in Rock Island, Illinois. Farmall M tractors made in the UK and Australia were termed the AM and the BM, accordingly. The British model was manufactured from 1948 to 1953 in Doncaster, and the Australian classic from 1949 to 1954 in Geelong.
