Mechanical and System Architecture
The manual traces the actual signal and fluid paths rather than stopping at component names. Its print-signal section shows the L-COA imaging processor handling high-speed 12-color, 2-bit image data and coordinating timed print signals through the carriage PCB to two six-color PF-03 printheads, each with 2,560 nozzles per color. Head EEPROM data, carriage temperature, linear-encoder timing, mask patterns, and heat-enable control are tied directly to print driving. The surrounding specification tables cover media-dependent print passes and direction, interface data, environmental limits, power/noise figures, dimensions, and PFI-101/PFI-103 ink-tank identification.

Factory Repair and Diagnostic Coverage
Chapter 4 concentrates on major-unit repair work. It covers removal and reinstallation of the carriage, cutter, feeder, roll-feed, purge, waste-ink, ink-tank, sensor, and PCB assemblies, along with manual carriage-lock and cap release, wiper positioning, ink-supply valve operation, automatic and manual ink drainage, and component-specific grease application. Canon identifies the Carriage Wire Tool AY3-4493-000, Molykote PG-641 grease CK-0562-000, and EU-1 QY9-0037-000. The maintenance section also ties service-consumable assemblies to Canon part numbers and parts-counter groups.
Diagnostics go beyond the user menu. Service mode provides I/O displays, test patterns, adjustment routines, purge and cleaning counters, media and ink-use records, parts-life status, initialization functions, and interpretation of the PRINT INF report. PCB replacement mode transfers settings and counter data between the main controller and maintenance-cartridge relay PCB. Firmware update coverage names both the GARO Firmware Update Tool and L Printer Service Tool. Chapter 8 organizes warnings, recoverable errors, and service-call failures by code, detected condition, and required action.
For smaller components outside the major-unit procedures, Canon directs the technician to a separate parts catalog; that catalog is not part of this PDF. Red-screw assemblies are factory-set and are not intended for field disassembly.
Two iPF6100-specific repair traps are called out. Releasing a printhead lock while the ink-supply valve remains open can allow ink to reverse-flow and leak from the supply needles. Carriage or multi sensor replacement requires simultaneous replacement of the reference plate and the prescribed gap and optical-axis calibration. During powered diagnostics, follow the manual’s AC-power, ESD, moving-part, and conductive-ink precautions to avoid electrical damage, ink leakage, or injury.
