SSangyong Manual Features & Content Preview
- Daewoo Motor Co., Ltd. Musso factory service manual supplied as a 1,463-page PDF. Coverage is identified by engine and application code: M162 E32, M161 E23/E20, and OM662LA/OM661LA, with general technical and axle tables also listing 661LA, 662NA, 662LA, and 2.0L, 2.3L, and 3.2L DOHC configurations.
- Covers engine removal and installation, cylinder-head and valve-train repair, camshaft timing and adjuster work, timing-chain and guide service, crankshaft, piston, and connecting-rod inspection, lubrication-system repair, cooling-system testing, and gasoline or diesel fuel-system diagnosis.
- Details BTRA M74 4WD automatic-transmission diagnostics and full unit repair, TREMEC T5WC manual-transmission service, hydraulic clutch bleeding and repair, plus part-time 4408 and 4423E TOD transfer-case diagnosis, coding, removal, and internal repair.
- Includes ECS suspension self-diagnosis, wheel alignment, front and rear suspension work, auto-locking front hubs and vacuum circuits, CV and propeller shafts, rear axle and LSD repair, hydraulic-brake bleeding, and ABS/ABD 5.0 and 5.3 fault diagnosis.
- Provides system-specific ECU, TCU, ECS, ABS, transfer-case, SRS, body, STICS, REKES, and immobilizer schematics; connector-location views; diagnostic-code tables; factory tool listings; and torque, pressure, wear, clearance, fluid, and electrical specifications.
- Coverage boundaries: the engine-build chapters cover M162, M161, OM662LA, and OM661LA; there is no separate M160 or 662NA overhaul chapter. The full automatic-transmission rebuild section is for the BTRA M74. MB W4A040 appears in general application data, while body wiring separately identifies a BENZ automatic-transmission harness. HVAC repair in this PDF is limited to Section 7B/C manual and semi-automatic systems; the master contents lists Section 7D, but that chapter is not included.
Engine Build and Fuel-System Coverage
The M162 and M161 gasoline material is divided into general information, mechanical, cooling, electrical, controls, and intake/exhaust sections. The chapters move from engine removal and installation into internal repair. Covered work includes crankcase ventilation and hydraulic engine mounts; belt, tensioner, and cylinder-head service; camshaft adjusters and timing; valve springs and stem seals; timing chains and guide rails; crankshaft, piston, rod, and ring inspection; and oil pumps, galleries, core plugs, cylinder bores, and mating surfaces.
The OM600 material separates the five-cylinder OM662LA from the four-cylinder OM661LA. Diesel-specific procedures cover prechambers, TDC sensor-bracket setting, cylinder-head pressure-leak testing and facing, valve-guide and seat-ring replacement, valve and seat machining, hydraulic valve-clearance element checks, camshaft timing tests, flywheel machining, oil spray nozzles, and cylinder-bore measurement. Fuel-system coverage includes injection-pump coding, vacuum-pump tests, idle adjustment, injection-nozzle testing and repair, injection-timing-device service, RIV start-of-delivery testing, and fuel-injection-pump service.
Gasoline MSE/HFM diagnostics include self-diagnosis socket pinouts, failure-code tables, test-box connections, fuel-injection and ignition tests, electronic-pedal checks, A/C control tests, fuel-pressure and internal-leakage testing, injector and fuel-pump tests, ECU service, and sensor checks for engine speed, cam position, air mass, oxygen, knock, coolant temperature, and pedal position.
Drivetrain, Chassis, and Diagnostic Depth
The M74 chapter identifies transmission part numbers and applications, clutch-pack construction, special tools, diesel and gasoline TCU circuits, and model-specific shift-pattern diagrams. Repair coverage continues through electronic and hydraulic control, power-flow paths, self-diagnosis, mechanical and fluid tests, electronic adjustments, transmission removal, disassembly and assembly, and band setting.
The T5WC chapter covers shift complaints, removal, major-unit repair, the main, input, and counter shafts, extension housing, and shift cover. Transfer-case material includes 4408 self-diagnosis and TCCU service plus TOD coding, stored-code clearing, DTC diagnosis, control-unit testing, propeller-shaft speed sensors, and internal unit repair.
Chassis sections address ECS damping logic and actuator inspection, double-wishbone and torsion-bar front suspension, five-link rear suspension, front-axle vacuum controls, steering knuckles and drive shafts, axle housings, rear differential and LSD service, brake hydraulics, LCRV, disc brakes, power-steering pressure checks and bleeding, and steering-column repair.
Named drawings include the E32/E23 ECU schematics, 4WD diesel and gasoline TCU circuits, ECS circuit, ABS/ABD 5.0 and 5.3 schematics, 4408 and TOD/TCCU diagrams, and the SRS air-bag circuit. The body section adds power-distribution, starting and charging, fuse and relay, and connector maps for gasoline, diesel, manual-transmission, BENZ automatic, and BTRA automatic configurations.
Specifications, Tools, and Repair Cautions
Specifications are placed with the applicable repair sections. They include tightening tables, model and application data, pressure tests, clutch and gear clearances, end-float and wear limits, machining limits, fluid data, electrical test values, and adjustment specifications. Factory-numbered tool tables identify equipment such as compression tester 001 589 76 21 00, hand vacuum pump 001 589 73 21 00, M74 solenoid and thermistor tester 0555-332083, and clutch-pack clearance kit 0555-336260.
Engine repair notes require valve-train components to remain in their original order and open intake passages to be covered. The manual warns that foreign material entering a cylinder can cause extensive damage when the engine is restarted. In the M74 repair section, the output shaft must not be hammered to release the center support because the thrust-bearing surfaces can be permanently damaged. Transmission replacement also calls for cooler-line flushing and flow verification so residual debris is not carried into the repaired unit.
Engine or transmission removal, diesel injection testing, refrigerant service, brake and SRS repair, and work under the vehicle require appropriate lifting support, pressure relief, electrical isolation, and the safety procedures stated in the manual.
