This set combines the DEUTZ FL 912 and B/FL 913/C workshop manual, carrying printed document code 0297 9763, with a separate 914 workshop manual. The 912/913 material is in German, English, French, and Spanish; the 914 manual is in English.

Confirm the Engine Family Before Starting

Coverage is engine-code specific: F3L, F4L, F5L, and F6L 912; F3L, F4L, and F6L 913; BF4L and BF6L 913; and BF6L 913C. The 913 coverage does not include an F5L configuration.

The separate 914 tables cover F3L through F6L 914, BF3L and BF4L 914/T, and BF6L 914 C/T. Keeping these naturally aspirated and turbocharged configurations separate helps match injection, piston-clearance, cooling, and torque data to the engine being repaired.

Fuel, Timing, and Compression Work

The 912/913 section includes on-engine injection-pump tightness tests. Injector work covers opening-pressure adjustment, leakage checks, and buzzing and spray-pattern tests, alongside removal and installation procedures.

The 914 work cards provide two methods for checking and setting commencement of delivery: one using a positioning bolt and another using a high-pressure hand pump. Fuel-line replacement, injection-pump removal, and intermediate-gear inspection are separate jobs.

914 fuel equipment: The technical data identify Motorpal PPM10Pi-series injection pumps, the Motorpal RV3M350/1150-3864 governor, and Bosch DLLA 146-series injectors. Internal injection-pump and governor repair requires separate repair instructions; the included cards cover pump removal, installation, and delivery-timing work.

The injection-line notes explain that bending the lines can create fine cracks and shorten their service life.

Internal Repair and Rebuild Scope

Cylinder-head repair extends to valve-seat insert removal using a lathe or upright drill, valve-guide replacement, and sealing-surface machining. Crankcase procedures include cylinder-seat refacing and piston-cooling oil-spray-nozzle replacement.

The complete 912/913 teardown and assembly procedure covers the standard engine configuration; application-specific accessories are not shown. Shaft-seal replacement at both ends of an assembled engine is also covered.

Crankshaft-seal instructions distinguish lip orientation and installation depth according to running-surface condition. Incorrect positioning can damage the seal or leave it running on a worn surface.

Illustrated procedures show compression testing, TDC location, piston-crown-clearance measurement, fuel-delivery timing, crankshaft-seal installation, and cooling-blower disassembly. The technical-data sections also contain valve-clearance adjustment schematics.

Cooling, Lubrication, and Turbocharger Work

The 912/913 component section covers both conventional and hydraulic cooling blowers, with bearing, shaft-seal, and coupling work. Exhaust-thermostat testing and adjustment are covered separately.

BF4L 913 procedures address oil-cooler and turbocharger removal and installation. The 914 cards add oil-cooler cleaning, oil-pump backlash adjustment, and charge-air-cooler removal and installation during intake-system work.

Turbocharger coverage consists of removal, visual inspection, and installation. Reconditioning damaged or worn turbochargers is referred to service centers.

Measurements, Tools, and Scope Limits

The tool listings identify the TDC setting device 100 640 and magnetic graduated disc 100 910 for timing work.
