Kia Carnival Sedona 2002–2005 Repair Manual Set with Owner’s Manual (P/N UV050 PS 013)

The workshop material and Mitchell repair articles provide service procedures and diagnostic information, while the owner’s manual explains operation, maintenance and safety features. This is a mixed documentation set rather than a single OEM workshop publication.

Coverage varies by document. The workshop chapters are labeled Sedona; the collection does not contain a separate Carnival-branded repair manual. General reference articles, code lists and placeholders do not extend the vehicle-specific repair coverage.

PDF Search, Bookmarks and Diagram Detail

Search and circuit labels: The shop manual and owner’s manual have searchable text, but many diagram labels are not searchable. The two supplementary notes PDFs have no searchable text. The owner’s manual has chapter bookmarks; the shop manual’s section bookmarks all lead to its first page. Most separate files have no bookmarks. Small labels in the checked color wiring diagrams require zooming; the shop manual’s ETACS diagram has lighter lines and lettering.

The ZIP contains 127 printable PDFs totaling 3,535 pages, plus supporting menu and reference files. This total includes three compilation front/back matter pages and all 41 template placeholder pages.

V6 Repair, Automatic Transaxle Overhaul and Circuit Diagnosis

These are selected contents, not a complete contents list. Further topics include cruise-control diagnosis and rain-sensing wiper operation.

• Engine repair: Timing-belt service, engine removal, cylinder-head and valvetrain repair, oil-pump inspection, and piston, connecting-rod, crankshaft and cylinder-block work.

• Fuel and engine controls: Fuel-pressure testing, EVAP diagnosis, sensor and actuator checks, DTC routines, connector information and engine-control fault isolation.

• Automatic transaxle: F5A51-3 diagnosis, stall and hydraulic-pressure tests, internal disassembly and reassembly, clutch/brake setup, differential preload and valve-body repair.

Engine Internals, Timing and Fuel Diagnosis

Step-by-step procedures cover timing-system installation, cylinder-head disassembly, valve and guide service, hydraulic lash adjusters, rocker-arm clearance inspection and bottom-end inspection. Water-pump, thermostat, intake, surge-tank, exhaust-manifold and muffler procedures are also included.

Timing instructions distinguish the left- and right-bank camshafts and warn that incorrect spacer alignment can deform the crankshaft-sensing blade.

Fuel-pressure fault tables relate abnormal readings and pressure loss to the regulator, return line, injectors and pump check valve. These tables connect measured results with possible causes before components are selected for further testing.

Service data includes torque tables, sealant references, wear limits, clearances and electrical specifications. Named tools include crankshaft wrench 09231-33100 and fuel-pressure-gauge adapter 09353-38000.

F5A51-3 Overhaul and Setup

The automatic-transaxle material includes sectional views, clutch-and-brake function charts, hydraulic circuits for the forward gears and reverse, oil-seal locations, road-test charts and scan-tool DTC procedures.

Internal procedures extend to the oil pump, planetary sets, differential and underdrive, direct, reverse and overdrive clutch assemblies. Directional thrust bearings and measured end-play/preload selection are part of reassembly; incorrect orientation or setup can leave damaging internal clearances.

Setup tools include dial-gauge extension 09453-33100 and clearance dummy plates 09456-39100A/B. The short manual-transaxle section contains differential material, not a full manual-gearbox overhaul chapter.

Brake Variants, Suspension and Steering

Brake procedures cover the master cylinder, booster, front discs, rear drums and parking brake. ABS/EBD material adds HCU and ECU service, wheel-speed sensors, tone rings, DTC charts and scan-tool fault isolation.

VIN-dependent front-disc, rear-lining and rear-drum specifications distinguish the brake configurations. Suspension and steering coverage includes struts, control arms, subframes, rear links, hub bearings, steering-column removal, pump and steering-gear service, leakage checks and system bleeding.

The front-axle instructions warn that allowing a shaft to hang from its inner CV joint can separate the joint or damage the transaxle oil seal.

Wiring, SRS and Body Controls

The separate wiring collection contains 49 named circuit figures. Examples include Manual A/C Circuit, Anti-lock Brake Circuits and 3.5L Engine Performance Circuits, along with Power Distribution Circuit, Supplemental Restraint Circuit and A/T Circuit.

The shop manual adds ABS operating flowcharts, transaxle hydraulic diagrams, SRS layouts and circuits, ETACS pin information, and projected/straight-line body dimensions. Body-electrical coverage includes locks, windows, seats, sunroof, lights, wipers and keyless entry.

SRS sections include post-collision inspection, field-deployment procedures and 0957A-series diagnosis checker, dummy and adapter tools.

Body, HVAC and Owner Reference

Body procedures address the hood, tailgate, front and sliding doors, bonded glass, bumpers, roof carrier, mirrors, instrument panel, trim, seats and seat belts.

HVAC material covers refrigerant recovery, leak testing, compressor oil, manifold-gauge diagnosis and front/rear heater components. The owner’s manual adds second-row separate and bench seating, third-row seating, ISOFIX/lower anchors and tether points, airbags, emergency procedures and vehicle specifications.

SRS and refrigerant work requires the specified battery isolation, SRS waiting period, approved diagnostic simulators and refrigerant recovery equipment. Proper vehicle support is required for underbody work.

Compression and Fuel-Pressure Specification Preview

For the shop manual’s Sigma 3.5 V6, compression is listed at 1,275 kPa standard, with a 1,128 kPa limit, under the stated test conditions of coolant at 80–95°C and a fully open throttle. Maximum pressure difference between cylinders is 100 kPa.

The fuel-pressure section specifies approximately 270 kPa with the engine running and the regulator’s vacuum hose connected, alongside separate diagnostic tables for abnormal readings and pressure loss.
