Model-Year Changes That Matter During Repair

Several repair traps are called out directly in the factory text. The top-drive and third-driven-gear bushings have oil holes that must align with the matching shaft passages; incorrect orientation can restrict lubrication and damage the bushing or gear. The valve-seat chapter warns against removing excess material because it can move the valve stem too close to the rocker arm and compromise the contact geometry. Brake service is fluid-specific: mixing the prescribed glycol-based brake fluid with silicone- or petroleum-based fluid can seriously damage the hydraulic system.
