Yamaha states that these manuals were prepared primarily for dealers and qualified mechanics. They are best suited to technicians or experienced owners who already understand basic mechanical repair practices and have access to the measuring equipment and special tools called out in the procedures.

Repair and Overhaul Depth

The base manual follows the 124 cc air-cooled four-stroke engine from removal through final installation. It also identifies major jobs that can be completed with the engine still in the frame, including top-end, centrifugal-clutch, sheave, V-belt, electric starting drive, oil-pump, and CDI-magneto service. The overhaul chapter covers valve-seat and valve-guide work, piston and ring inspection, crankshaft and connecting-rod checks, transmission and shift-component inspection, and assembly timing and adjustment. The carburetor chapter adds sectional views, disassembly, inspection, assembly, installation, and fuel-level setup.

Chassis repair is organized around removal, inspection, and installation. The special-tool section identifies the tools by name and number, including crankcase separating tool YU-01135 / 90890-01135, fuel-level gauge YM-01312-A / 90890-01312, and pocket tester YU-03112 / 90890-03112. The related sections supply the test specifications used with those tools.

The crankcase chapter warns against forcing the case halves apart or striking the gasket surface, which can damage the sealing face. The chassis section also cautions against striking the rear-axle end directly because the threads and splines can be ruined. For safety, Yamaha directs technicians to let the exhaust system cool and keep the engine off during spark-arrester cleaning; its warning and caution notes apply throughout engine, brake, and electrical service.
