Massey-Ferguson Manual Features & Content Preview

  • Covers Massey Ferguson 3615, 3625, 3635, and 3645 tractors, including 2WD, 4WD, cab, platform, and Footstep variants, in a 762-page PDF of the factory workshop manual, 3600 Series — Issue 1.
  • Details 506 HTR transmission overhaul, including wet-clutch repair, synchronizer replacement, internal controls, and primary- and secondary-shaft work, supported by exploded assembly views.
  • Documents PTO wet-clutch and PTO-brake service, input/output shaft replacement, and configuration-specific Ground Drive PTO procedures.
  • Front-axle repair covers steering cylinders, wheel hubs, planetary reduction gears, limited-slip differentials, and bevel-gear setup; rear final-drive overhaul is covered separately.
  • Hydraulic coverage includes pump and auxiliary-valve removal, Powershuttle valve service, and rockshaft diagnosis and position/draft-control adjustment.
  • Brake sections cover actuator-cylinder service, wet-disc inspection data, parking-brake adjustment, and brake-circuit bleeding.
  • Electrical wiring diagrams, harness layouts, connector views, and wire-color references distinguish engine, cab, regional platform, and Powershuttle circuits.

Tractor Coverage and Engine Service

The 33.xxx engine identifications are 33.380 DT for the 3615, 33.379 DT for the 3625, 33.378 DT for the 3635, and 33.377 DTA for the 3645. Engine coverage addresses removal and installation, tractor separation, and external equipment such as the radiator, cooling fan, air intake, starter, and alternator. Internal engine overhaul is not included in this PDF.

The general-information sections also provide identification-plate locations, routine maintenance tables, and steering-geometry requirements. Always ensure proper lifting equipment and cribbing are used before removing the heavy drivetrain components covered in these chapters.

Transmission Configurations and PTO Repair

Configuration tables separate 8+8 and 12+12 Synchro Shuttle from 12+12 Power Shuttle. The 24+24 coverage includes Synchro Shuttle with either Synchro Splitter or Power Splitter, plus Power Shuttle with Synchro Splitter. Tractor specifications also include Power Hi-Lo travel-speed tables. Applicability tables show which service operations belong to each arrangement.

Clutch procedures extend to Teflon shaft seals, clutch-pack disassembly, and compressed-air function checks. The synchronizer replacement section distinguishes A and B assemblies whose internal parts are not interchangeable. Input-shaft removal warnings address puller contact that can damage the shaft.

PTO specifications distinguish 540, 540/540E, and 540/1000 versions. Ground-drive PTO is an option on the covered configurations other than the 8+8. The Transmission Power Flow FRW/REV drawings show the gear paths for the different transmission layouts.

Hydraulic Lift and Valve Diagnosis

The hydraulic chapter explains an open-center system with a tandem gear pump. Powershuttle valve work covers the on/off, flow-divider, and proportional valves, along with associated sensors. Lift fault charts address jerky operation, poor lifting capacity, and loads that drift down, with related checks for valve leakage and linkage adjustment.

The Circuit Diagram of Hydraulic Lifting Device accompanies descriptions of neutral, delivery, and discharge operation. A separate Hydraulic diagram 24+24 Syncro Powershuttle HI-LO traces the steering, PTO, and auxiliary-valve circuits. Reaction-spring and pushrod checks add detail beyond basic lift-lever adjustment.

Axle Builds, Steering, and Final Checks

The axle chapters identify CA149967 2RM/2WD and 20.16 4WD axles CA642064 and CA642094. The two 4WD builds have separate backlash and bearing-preload specifications. Repair procedures include double U-joint seals and bushings, toe-in and steering-stop adjustment, and testing after assembly.

The Bevel gear marking test shows how tooth-contact patterns relate to pinion and ring-gear setup. The pinion instructions also flag overtightening as a cause of damage to the collapsible spacer. Axle labor-time schedules are included and assume the axle is already off the tractor.

Electrical Diagrams and Connector Details

The MF3600 engine line and V2.0 Powershuttle harness are among the named electrical drawings. The latter identifies control-unit connections, forward/reverse pressure switches, solenoids, and the serial connector. Separate North American and rest-of-world platform layouts account for regional wiring differences; cab and air-conditioning wiring are covered as well.

Specifications and Reference Values

Reference sections distinguish engine power from estimated PTO output and provide fluid capacities, including cab/platform coolant differences. Component-specific torque tables cover drivetrain and axle assemblies, with chassis and front-weight mounting specifications also included. Wear limits, endplay, preload, and hydraulic settings accompany the relevant repair sections. Battery test values and ISKRA alternator specifications support electrical checks.

Special-tool references include CA715358 for clutch service and CA715888/CA715887 for Teflon clutch-shaft seal installation and sizing. Dedicated tool sections illustrate the service tools.
