Parts catalog coverage is limited to 4.108M build NAP000265. References to NAP000273 apply to individual items. The alternator and generator plate appears twice, leaving that assembly without its matching parts list. The bulletins and generator chart apply to the products listed in each reference.

Diesel Overhaul, Marine Cooling, and Parts Lookup
These are selected topics from the set. The workshop editions also cover flywheel-housing alignment and list approved service tools.
- Engine overhaul: Step-by-step procedures cover cylinder head disassembly, piston and connecting rod service, cylinder liner renewal, and crankshaft and main bearing inspection.
- Timing and fuel delivery: The workshop manuals cover timing gear setup, injection pump timing, fuel-system bleeding, and injector inspection. The marine edition also covers anti-stall adjustment.

Pump Seals and Refrigeration Pistons
On marine water pumps with a ceramic counterface, even brief dry running can crack the ceramic and cause a leak. In the refrigeration section, Perkins explains how skirt damage or distortion on close-fitting controlled-expansion pistons can cause seizure.
Thermostat and Alternator Test Examples
The marine manual gives different thermostat opening temperatures for the two cooling systems. The wax-capsule thermostat in an indirectly cooled engine begins opening at 156°F (69°C), while the bellows thermostat in a directly cooled engine begins opening at 125°F (52°C).
The non-marine manual lists nominal hot output of 28 A for the 15ACR alternator and 36 A for the 17ACR at 6,000 alternator rpm. The figures apply near normal alternator operating temperature.
