The bearing-clearance chapter describes Plastic Gauge checks but explains their limitations on small journals. Perkins does not recommend these clearance checks, particularly on small engines, because inaccurate readings and bearing-surface damage are possible.

For lubricated cylinder-head bolts, the assembly chapter lists 36.5 N·m for the 402C-05, 50.5 N·m for the 403C-11, and 100.5 N·m for the 403C-15, alongside the applicable tightening sequences. Intake and exhaust valve lash is 0.20 mm with the engine cold.

Injector opening pressures are 14,707 kPa for the 403C-11, 403C-15, 404C-22, and 404C-22T, and 11,769 kPa for the 402C-05, 403C-07, and 404C-15.
