Carburetor and Fuel Pump Service

Carburetor inspection covers the float, needle valve, jets, and main nozzle, while the fuel pump section addresses diaphragms and seat valves. Fuel joint pressure testing and carburetor float-height measurement have their own service instructions.

The carburetor notes warn that cleaning jets with steel wire can enlarge their openings and affect engine performance.

Powerhead, Recoil Starter and Cooling

Internal inspection data covers piston-to-cylinder clearance, piston ring end gaps and side clearance, cylinder-head warpage, and crankshaft runout. Thermostat opening checks and water-jacket inspection address cooling faults.

Reed valve stopper specifications distinguish the 9.9 and 15 versions and identify a different 9.9 setting for Europe.

Flywheel magneto service specifies puller attachment precautions because an unevenly mounted puller can damage the engine or tools. Recoil starter coverage includes the sheave drum, spiral spring, and starter rope, with warnings about the release of spring tension.

Lower Unit Shimming and Gearcase Repair
