Yamaha warns that rotating the crankshaft during camshaft installation can produce incorrect valve timing and engine damage; the cam-cap fasteners also have to be handled evenly to avoid damaging the head, cams, or caps. The fork must be depressurized before disassembly, and the rear shock's high-pressure nitrogen cylinder and reservoir are not covered as an internal overhaul - the manual expressly says not to open them. Brake work includes bleeding and post-repair operation and leak checks. Secure support of the competition bike is required for engine, wheel, fork, steering, swingarm, and shock removal.
