Model and Engine Scope
The application material identifies MPI engines with magnetic ignition across the XJ, ZJ, and YJ platforms. Coverage depth differs by engine. Engine Repair and Diagnosis
The 2.5L and 4.0L chapters cover manifolds, cylinder heads, front seals, timing chains and sprockets, rocker arms, camshafts, rear main seals, water pumps, oil pans, pistons and connecting rods, crankshafts, cylinder blocks, and oil-pump teardown. Transmission, Transfer Case, and Axle Service
AW-4 electronic diagnosis is specifically assigned to 4.0L Cherokee applications. It covers the transmission controller, solenoids, sensors, connectors, trouble codes, and test flowcharts. The separate overhaul booklet adds hydraulic testing, transmission and torque-converter removal, valve-body and check-ball layouts, clutch and brake units, planetary assemblies, oil-pump service, internal inspection, reassembly, and final checks. Manual-transmission coverage identifies AX-5 four-cylinder and AX-15 six-cylinder applications.
The New Process 207/231 and NP/NV242 sections include identification, linkage adjustment, vacuum-switch testing where applicable, seal repair, removal, disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and operational checks.
