The service-manual sections are combined in one PDF. The separate New Car Information supplement explains changes to emissions controls, VDC, navigation, and instrument circuits; it is a model-change reference rather than a second repair volume.

AWD Driveline Details and Repair Limits

The STI’s six-speed manual uses DCCD, while the WRX’s five-speed manual uses a viscous-coupling center differential. Internal transmission procedures address shafts, gears, bearings, and adjustment data.

STI references identify the helical front LSD and H3 Torsen rear differential; the B2 non-LSD rear differential is covered separately. Rear-differential procedures include pinion-height selection, bearing preload, backlash, and tooth-contact inspection. The H3 differential case assembly is not internally disassembled.

For the STI’s H3 rear differential, the service data specify drive-pinion bearing preload of 0.98–1.57 N·m with new bearings, measured with a torque wrench. This is distinct from the total differential preload specification.

The rear-differential tables specify hypoid driven-gear-to-drive-pinion backlash of 0.10–0.20 mm. The assembly material relates this measurement to shim selection and tooth-contact inspection.
