1970s–1980s STIHL 030 / 031 / 032 Chainsaw Service Manual & Parts Lists

This STIHL service manual covers 1970s and 1980s 030, 031, and 032 chainsaws, including AV, Quickstop, and heated-handle variants. Coverage for the 032 begins at machine No. 5,329,921, with separate 031 (030) instructions identifying construction differences.

Carburetor Repair and Fuel Delivery

Carburetor coverage includes inlet-needle and metering-diaphragm inspection, fuel-pump repair, and leakage testing. “Starting position” and “Full throttle position” section views explain fuel delivery under different operating conditions.

The parts lists distinguish Walbro WA-2C and Tillotson HU-3G units for 030/031, and HU-51C and WA-49B units for 032. The service text also separates the earlier Tillotson repair details from the later Walbro arrangement.

Chain Lubrication

The “Diagram of oil pump” identifies the spur gear, worm, plunger, and control bolt. Service notes warn that an omitted worm-shaft washer causes rapid pump-housing wear.

Rewind Starters and Handle Systems

Starter coverage distinguishes the 032 mechanism from the two-pawl 031/030 design. AV-system notes identify differences in the handle-frame vibration dampers.

The 032 electrical heating section provides component resistance tests and generator replacement procedures. A separate section covers the 031 exhaust-heated handles; the electrical handlebar element requires replacement of the complete handlebar when faulty.
