Assembly and System Overview
This manual maps the Fendt 700 and 800 Vario architecture through the 0000 Tractor/General system, 1000 Transmission, 2000 Engine, 3000 Front Axle, and 4000 Steering groups, plus cab and body, air conditioning, power lift, compressed air, electrics, hydraulic pump assemblies, hydraulic equipment, electronics, special tools, and FENDIAS diagnostics.
The model-history tables matter because the same badge does not always mean the same hardware. They separate ML 130 and ML 160 Vario transmissions; HA 110, HA 130, and HA 160 rear axles; ZF APL-2000/F6/F7 and DANA 735-110/745-110 front axles; Bosch EPC-C and EPC-OBE power-lift control; centrifugal and EMR 2 engine control; and Variotronic 1.0, 2.0, TI/TMS, and TI/TMS Generation 2. The September 2004 break is shown at 711/712/714 from ../9001, 716 from ../9501, 815/817 from ../2001, and 818 from ../4001, so the correct worksheet can be matched to the tractor before parts, settings, or repair procedures are selected.
Later FENDT 700/800 Vario configurations use the DEUTZ BF6M 2013 C 5.7-liter six-cylinder engine. Factory data includes 0.4 mm intake and 0.5 mm exhaust valve clearance, 250 +12 bar injector opening pressure, and 28–32 bar new-engine compression pressure. Working hydraulics are rated at 200 bar with a 110 l/min pump, with separate coverage of the 22 bar control-pressure circuit and LS-pump testing. Before running any active tests on the hydraulics or drivetrain, verify all system pressures are safely relieved and standard shop safety protocols are met; the front-suspension circuit can retain 200 bar even with the engine off and the suspension lowered/locked.
Diagnostic Reference and Technical Data
The fault-code tables identify the component, fault condition, expected machine behavior, and the linked test or circuit diagram. Representative schematic names include Transmission control, EDC engine control, 4WD / Diff. Lock, Electrohydraulic power lift control, Spool valves 1, and PTOs. CAN-bus, EPC, suspension, PTO, auxiliary-valve, steering, sensor, actuator, and TMS/Variotronic faults are tied back to measuring or calibration sections.
For FENDT 700 tractors from ../8001, terminal A008 diagnostics cover IDEAL/VE/REAL transmission-ratio values, B008 high-pressure readings, transmission discharge temperature, CAN status, and ISO/LBS bus data. The FENDIAS/SERDIA section adds EMR 2 fault-memory reading, live engine values, output tests, ECU data-set programming, and load-spectrum data. Vendi coverage reads Bosch EHS 23 LS valve fault memory, including operating hours and control-unit temperature at the time of a fault. The manual notes that terminal diagnostics do not replace physical pressure or electrical measurements.
Hard shop data includes 700-series wheel torques of 275 Nm front / 450 Nm rear and 800-series values of 450 Nm front / 580 Nm rear. Engine oil capacity with filter change is 16.5 L; transmission/differential refill is 45 L for the 700 Vario and 50 L for the 800 Vario. Brake/clutch hydraulics use 0.8 L Pentosin CHF 11S, P/N X902.011.622, and the repair section expressly prohibits brake fluid. The A/C section specifies Refrigerant 134a, S035 high/low-pressure switching points, sensor/thermostat testing, and 400 +50 N compressor-belt strand force; evacuation and filling are referred to the charging-unit manufacturer's instructions.
Factory Repair Procedures, Calibration, and Tools
Factory procedures cover pinion/ring-gear and differential work, axle-drive removal, rear brake service and bleeding, Vario drive removal/installation, high-pressure relief and flush-valve service, front and live PTO clutches, front-wheel-drive clutch repair, Hydrodamp removal, cylinder-head-gasket replacement, injection-pump and injector replacement, cab tilting, EPC position-sensor work, front power lift, and SB 23 LS-EHS valves. Calibration sections cover rear EPC, front power lift, auxiliary valves, suspension, PTO engagement points, clutch pedal, hand/foot throttle, operating-range detection, transmission characteristic, turboclutch function, and the A034 joystick sliding switch.
The special-tool section gives actual Fendt numbers, including X899.980.260.102 EMR SERDIA diagnostics box, X899.980.249.100 hydraulic pressure measuring case, and X899.980.255.000 filtered external ML-transmission oil-filling unit. That unit is mandatory whenever the ML high-pressure circuit has been opened; the manual explains that it prevents the hydraulic pump and motor from running dry.
Two other repair details are easy to miss. During live-PTO clutch overhaul, the manual warns against damaging the externally toothed plates and specifies disc-stack groove alignment. On the rear EPC, an overly tight lift setting can twist the linkage near 90–100% lift height and overload the B031/B032 draught-sensing pins; that overload fault is not stored.
Scope note: engine specifications, EMR diagnosis, cylinder-head-gasket work, injection-pump service, and injector procedures are included, but deeper DEUTZ 2012/2013 engine repair is explicitly referred to separate publication X990.005.034. Some EPC, ML, and equipment fault entries also point to separate service-training or component-manufacturer literature.
