The shop procedures and model-specific parts catalogs work together for repair planning and component identification. The Operator's Guides provide operating instructions and routine-care information.

The separate back-cover diagnostic flowcharts referenced for fuel-pump, D.E.S.S., and SE5 shift troubleshooting are not included. Dealer modifications made after vehicle manufacture are outside the shop manual's scope, and later service or warranty bulletins may update its procedures.

Engine, Drivetrain and Roadster Control Systems

The following selected coverage highlights are not a complete contents list. Storage preparation and preseason checks are further examples of the maintenance material included.

• Engine repair: Step-by-step instructions for engine removal and alignment, cylinder-head and valve service, camshaft and balance-shaft timing, piston and cylinder inspection, and crankcase and crankshaft work.

• SM5 drivetrain: Hydraulic-clutch testing and bleeding, clutch-solenoid and diaphragm service, reverse-actuator testing, and gearbox disassembly and inspection.

BRP published the shop manual primarily for technicians already familiar with its service procedures; the B.U.D.S.-dependent calibration work and special-tool requirements assume advanced mechanical knowledge and a properly equipped shop.

Internal Engine and Clutch Repair

Engine chapters include cylinder leak-down tests, valve-clearance inspection, timing-chain installation, and crankcase plain-bearing selection by tolerance group. Starter and sprag-clutch service are covered alongside component-specific tightening sequences, inspection limits, clearances, fluid specifications, and electrical test values.

Repair cautions explain how incorrect crankcase bearing oil-hole orientation can interrupt lubrication and damage the engine. Reversing the SM5 clutch diaphragm support disc can damage the diaphragm and draw engine oil into the intake.

SM5 procedures extend to the master and hydraulic cylinders, pressure plates, clutch plates, hub, housing, and drum. SE5 material adds hydraulic-piston and pressure-regulator service, clutch-pack work, and Transmission Control Module testing with B.U.D.S.

Electronic Controls, Steering and Suspension

ECM initialization, EFI circuit checks, and model-specific fault-code sections support electronic diagnosis. VSS material addresses yaw-rate and wheel-speed inputs and Vehicle Control Module testing; DPS coverage includes fault-response strategy and steering-angle/torque-sensor resets.

Oil-System Test and Assembly Data Preview

The lubrication section lists an engine oil-pressure switch activation range of 45 kPa ± 14 kPa, alongside switch-resistance and circuit tests.

For oil-pressure regulator assembly, the screw plug has a specified recess of 2.3 mm ± 0.1 mm below the outer edge of the oil-pump-module cover bore.
