Repair Cautions and Safety

The front-axle procedure warns that the CV-joint journal must be fully seated in the bronze bush before the stub axle is secured, or the bush can be damaged. In the One Ten Salisbury differential repair, pinion preload rises rapidly once the collapsible spacer begins to crush; overshooting it requires another new spacer.

Follow the manual's battery-isolation and vehicle-support precautions. The original R12 air-conditioning system and the pressurized Boge leveling unit require the appropriate equipment and trained handling; the leveling unit must not be dismantled.
