Image diagnosis and replacement adjustments

The image test-pattern section helps separate scanner faults from printer-system faults. Its linearity evaluation pattern checks magnification, skew, and leading-edge timing; a defective copy with a normal test pattern points diagnosis toward the scanner system.

The replacement-adjustment matrix connects drum cartridges, developer, transfer components, and other replaced parts with their required adjustments. Board-replacement notes explain the relationship between the overall control board (OACB) and memory board (MB), including the requirement to retain the original MB when replacing a failed OACB.

Printing after developer replacement without the specified L-detect initialization can leave image density incorrect and require another developer replacement. The blade-setting procedure addresses the risk of damaging the transfer belt and belt cleaning blade after replacement.

Printer gamma adjustment is distinguished from output through the printer controller: the manual states that this adjustment does not affect IP output. High-voltage adjustment menus and certain sensor-output checks are documented but expressly excluded from field adjustment.

Hardware variants, maintenance, and paper transport

Old-type and new-type machines differ in toner and developer, paper-path components, printer control boards, and control programs. The consumables section separates the TN501/TN510 toner families and DV501/DV510 developer families while identifying the DR501 drum for both types.

Maintenance tables distinguish cleaning, checking, lubrication, and replacement work. They also account for the uneven-wax modification, which changes the applicability of particular paper-exit roller service items.

Mechanical adjustments cover bypass feeding, tray alignment and feed pressure, and LCT skew and pickup operation. Finisher procedures address alignment plates, stapler positioning, folding mechanisms, and drive-belt positioning; the CE tools information distinguishes jigs for old and new stapler cartridges.

Accessory diagrams cover DF-319/AFR-20 document feeders, LT-211/C-208 large-capacity trays, FS-115/FS-215/FN-120/FN-9/FS-513/FS-606 finishers, TU-109/TMG-3 trimmers, and PK-120/PK-5/PK-507 punch units. Fault isolation, firmware setup, and volume scope

Jam-code tables describe detection conditions and corrective checks. SC error tables identify fault conditions and suspected components, while the HDD section includes capacity, free-space, bad-sector checking, and recovery functions.

The ISW chapter describes copier-side preparation for rewriting control programs. Operation of the ISWTrns PC application is covered by the separate ISW service manual, and printer-controller servicing is referred to the IP service manual.

This is the Field Service volume. The separate Theory of Operation volume contains the main disassembly/assembly section, including removal and reinstallation of major parts.

Selected image and finishing adjustment references

For the main-body printer system, the vertical magnification check specifies an error of 0.5% or less at life size.

The exclusive-paper menu provides a 0–255°C input range for upper and lower fixing-roller temperature settings. This is a menu range, with safety limits dependent on other settings; exclusive-paper adjustments require Konica Minolta Technology Support guidance.

For FS-215/FN-9/FS-606 finishers, the stitch-and-fold stapling-position check specifies a tolerance of ±1 mm relative to the paper center.
