Suzuki Wagon-R / Wagon-R+ 2001 Supplement Manual Set (P/N 99500U83E10-01E)

Prepared by the Magyar Suzuki Corporation Service Department, the two technical manuals document different changes from the RB413 base manual. Check the vehicle model code and drivetrain before selecting repair procedures.

Companion manuals required: Unchanged procedures remain in RB413 Service Manual 99500-83E00-01E, which is not included. The referenced full-vehicle Wiring Diagram Manual 99512U83E10-669 is also separate; the 4WD wiring section supplies only the modified L33 connector information.

Searchable Text, Chapter Bookmarks, and PDF Contents

Search and diagram detail: Both technical manuals have searchable body text and internal chapter bookmarks, but some wiring-diagram labels are not searchable. Small wiring labels need zooming; the ABS circuit also benefits from rotation for comfortable viewing. “Top” and “Manual List” links point to CD-ROM files outside this download. The two supplementary PDFs have searchable text and no embedded bookmarks.

Engine Diagnosis and Full-Time 4WD Repair

These selected topics outline the repair coverage rather than reproduce the full contents. Further examples include fuel-cut operation tests and ventilator air-filter service.

• RB310 engine repair: Compression, vacuum, and oil-pressure tests, plus step-by-step timing-belt/tensioner, cylinder-head, valve-train, piston, crankshaft, and oil-pump procedures.

• Engine-management diagnosis: MIL checks, DTC retrieval/clearing, freeze-frame and scan-tool data, symptom tables, fail-safe references, circuit flowcharts, and ECM terminal tests.

• Fuel and ignition: Fuel-pressure and injector testing, throttle-body service, EVAP and PCV checks, sensor and relay tests, spark diagnosis, and ignition-timing adjustment.

• Cooling: System circulation, thermostat removal and installation, overheating diagnosis, belt adjustment, and cooling-fan control checks.

• Starting and charging: No-reduction starter overhaul and performance tests; generator diagnosis, removal, installation, and exploded views of both assemblies.

• 4WD chassis and brakes: Rear axle shafts, wheel bearings, oil seals, and axle housing; LSPV pressure tests, rear-brake service, and ABS/EBD diagnosis.

• 4WD drivetrain: Engine/transmission/transfer assembly removal, manual-transmission and clutch-release work, transfer overhaul, and rear-differential setup.

These manuals are intended for authorized Suzuki dealers and qualified service mechanics with the tools and equipment needed for the work.

RB310 Engine and Maintenance Work

The mechanical coverage addresses a water-cooled, inline three-cylinder, four-stroke gasoline engine with a belt-driven SOHC and hydraulic valve lash adjusters. Internal repair extends to camshaft and lash-adjuster noise diagnosis, valve guides and seats, piston rings, connecting rods, cylinder inspection, and graded main-bearing selection.

Intake and exhaust manifold work accompanies oil-pan, strainer, and trochoid oil-pump service. The oil-pan jacking caution explains how deformation can damage the closely positioned oil pickup.

Maintenance: Normal and severe-use schedules cover drive and timing belts, oil and filter, coolant, exhaust, spark plugs, air cleaner, and fuel/emission checks. Chassis inspections address brakes, clutch free travel, wheel bearings, suspension and steering, transmission fluids, latches, hinges, and final checks.

The Cooling System Circulation diagram shows the coolant paths. Water-pump removal, inspection, and installation are referred to the base manual. Fuel-system work covers the tank, pump assembly, and feed, return, and vapor lines.

Circuit Diagnosis and A/C Coverage

The diagnostic workflow connects complaint records and basic engine checks with symptom diagnosis and circuit testing, helping distinguish mechanical or fuel-delivery problems from sensor and wiring faults.

Flowcharts cover MAP, IAT, ECT, and throttle-position inputs; heated oxygen sensors and heaters; lean/rich correction, misfire, CKP/CMP signals, catalyst efficiency, purge, radiator-fan, VSS, idle-control, and ECM power/ground faults.

E21/E22/E23 connector views and tables identify circuit functions and voltage/resistance checks. Tool references include Suzuki Tech 1A kit 09931-76011, DLC cable 09931-76030, and dedicated fuel-pressure, compression, vacuum, timing, seal, and bearing tools.

A/C limits: The RB310 A/C chapter provides its wiring circuit and ECM checks. Basic refrigerant service is referred to the separate Suzuki A/C Basic Manual 99520-02130.

RB413 4WD Brakes, Transmission, and Axle Setup

The ABS material adds a System Schematic, E20 System Circuit and terminal arrangement, model-specific DTC tables, rear wheel-speed sensor/ring checks, and G-sensor testing. LSPV-equipped vehicles receive pressure-test and adjustment information alongside rear brake pipe, valve, drum, and back-plate work.

Propeller-shaft joint and center-support checks cover the viscous-coupling layout. The five-speed manual-transmission section adds differential-side seals, shift cables, differential subassembly service, and fifth-gear reassembly.

Transfer and rear-differential chapters cover shim selection, bearing preload, backlash, oil seals, tooth-contact diagnosis charts, and final checks, with component torque tables, clearances, wear limits, capacities, and special tools. Hypoid gears are matched sets requiring accurate setup.

Drivetrain precautions: Full-time 4WD cannot be manually converted to 2WD; unsuitable two-wheel dynamometer testing or towing with one axle unable to rotate can damage the drivetrain. Automatic-transmission material is limited to maintenance references, not internal overhaul procedures.

The publications reserve SRS work for authorized Suzuki service and include precautions for pressurized fuel, refrigerant, brakes, and 4WD lifting/testing.

A Preview of Fuel-Pressure and Differential Checks

For RB310 fuel-pressure testing with battery voltage of at least 11 V, the specified pressure is 160–210 kPa with the pump operating and the engine stopped, or 90–140 kPa at specified idle after warm-up.

RB413 4WD rear-differential setup specifies drive-bevel-gear backlash of 0.10–0.20 mm, alongside shim-selection and tooth-contact checks.
