Operational and Configuration Overview
The set separates everyday operation from factory-level diagnosis and repair. The 7760DN is the base duplex/network configuration and accepts either lower feeder as an option. The 7760GX is paired with the 3TM 1500-sheet feeder, while the 7760DX uses the TTM 2500-sheet feeder. PhaserMatch is standard on GX/DX and optional on DN. The service material treats 3TM and TTM hardware separately, so tray motors, lift systems, sensors, and paper-transport faults can be traced to the installed configuration.
Advanced Finisher sections cover stacking, stapling, and hole punching. Professional Finisher coverage extends into the booklet maker, folder, compiler tray, saddle-stapling hardware, paddle shaft, gates, belts, sensors, and control electronics. The repair chapters go well beyond consumable replacement, dividing the printer into electrical, drive, paper-path, xerographic, fusing, and finishing subsystems.

The RAP chains cover power-up and interlocks, trays and feeders, registration, ROS operation, toner and developer systems, imaging units, the accumulator belt, fusing/output, and both finisher families. The image-quality section links visible defects to test prints and affected process areas. Available patterns include solid-color fills, halftones, a repeating-defects page, laser-check output, registration grids, and tone-scale sheets.
Control-panel diagnostics can display sensor states and command motors, fans, clutches, and solenoids for fault isolation. The manual also covers Diagnostic Fault History, NVRAM storage/reset functions, reflective and transmissive sensor checks, developer-bias testing, network diagnostics, and back-channel traces for intermittent problems. Xerox-specific diagnostic hardware identified in the text includes the Null Modem Serial Cable, P/N 012-1535-00, and Serial Cable Adapter for Diagnostics, P/N 012-1543-00.

The Service Manual is written for certified, product-trained personnel. Disconnect AC power before internal repair and let the fuser cool before access. Several procedures flag damage risks that are easy to miss without the factory sequence. The diagnostic motor section warns that steering, imaging-unit, and accumulator-belt tests can damage the accumulator belt unless the stated removal or disengagement precautions are followed. After control-panel installation or reconnection, interrupting power before the automatic software check or upgrade can cause control-panel failure. A back-channel trace must remain receive-only because sending data through that session can irreversibly damage the printer operating system.
