Xerox also explains the revision digit and stresses using the model and serial number when ordering repair parts because running product changes can affect the correct component.

One detail worth noting: an out-of-level or insufficiently flat mounting surface is tied to horizontal color-to-color misregistration and a localized toner smear. Board replacement has an important data-handling trap: the original NVRAM, and any installed DIMM during an I/P-board swap, must be transferred to the replacement board.
